Alright, its obvious this guy doesnt know whats going on. Lets stop arguing and move on.

30k on my 04 with no window regulator problems. Ive been in cars with people that click the window switch 800,000 times to get the window down. Perhaps the people that do this get bad regulators?

Lived in Phoenix for 7 of those months of last year. Not like the AC works worth a crap in a dry climate that's hot enough to explode Dr. Pepper cans

In making that assumption, I'm betting you didn't read most of the posts in this thread. Maybe one on yours will break when a big snow storm comes along?

Either way, you guys aren't paying for it, so it is easy for you to say it isn't a big deal.

To Rush - thanks, but I haven't moved. I'm still in Phoenix. I wont be moving until June of 08.

Well if you're still in the valley then we can probably get some folks together to see if we can lend a hand. I've never worked on the window regulators before but I have an '03 FSM that I'm sure will come in handy 8) Oh and a few tools for the job. And just for the record, I have an '03 with 80k (just turned this weekend - woohoo!), use all four windows on a regular basis and no problems (yet). I'm also wondering if they might have changed something in the design to cause this problem.

Hmmm, my AC works just dandy, in fact I can drive around with it set on the lowest fan position and be comfy as all get out

My second window regulator within the last month went out today. I started rolling up my window when, clunk, it falls into the door. There goes another $300 out the door. With this crap, I could have had a lift already.

On top of that, it also sounds like the front brakes are grinding. I've only had the KJ for 3 months. I can't afford to keep fixing every dumb thing that goes wrong. I contacted Jeep and criticized them for not standing behind their product, mainly the window regulators, since it seems like many people have had some issue with those.

Sorry to hear about your window regulator on your KJ. I had an 04 KJ with 63,000 miles on it that never had any window regulator problems. I was forever rolling the windows up and down in stop and go traffic too. I kept wondering if they would ever break, but they never did.

Anyway, I see they are available on EBay here: http://tinyurl.com/32xcbd

Not sure if you're looking for right or left side, but this company has either one for $93

Crimsonfox, I can understand your frustration, but your generalized anger at the Jeep brand frankly is unfoundable. You can't honestly tell me that you have complete faith that by switching to a different brand you're going to avoid any problems? I'm not atacking you, just bringing up a point and being honest.

There isn't a single brand/model/year of vehicle out there that doesn't have it's problems. No matter what you buy, there is going to be something that can go wrong several times over. You might get lucky and get a car that was put together perfectly and lasts and lasts, but more likely you'll find somehting with yet another problem. I had an Oldsmobile Cutlas Cialais that I wnet through 4 alternator belts and 3 alternators, the bearings kept dying. Most likely it was a problem with the alingment of something with the belt system, or who knows what. But I don't think that Oldsmobiles are pieces of crap "that I won't waste any more money on."

You can think what you want, but really you just got a car that has a problem. The Dodge neons had problems with their headgaskets early on, but they are decent little cars. Jaguars are known for their electric problems, but they are fairly nice cars. I'm sure even a custom Ferrari is going to have it's own individaul problems, but does that mean they are piece of junk cars? Nope.

So please, look at it reasonably. It's fine to say you're going to get rid of your KJ because it's driving you nuts, but don't be silly and blame it on all Jeeps, especially on a forum dedicated to the Jeep you're mad at. It's just poor thinking.

I've owned two KJ's since 2003 and had to replace window regulator in each KJ once.

Apart from that, I haven't had to spend any money on anything else that broke. Even the dusty CD which was basically a really nice gesture by DC was replaced without charge (it got really dusty from many trips through the deserts back when I lived in California).

The KJ's more than paid for themselves in peace of mind ... go anywhere do anything AND come home. That's worth the price of a lousy regulator or two.

Weird. Maybe it's just mine. I didn't really ride in other peoples cars much out there before about 7 or 8 pm, but everywhere else I've been my AC blows penguin friendly.

if it makes ya feel any better, my wife's Jetta had the front two windows fall down inside the door within 2 months of owning it. Then, about a year later, both rear windows broke...one going down inside the door, the other broke in the up position. All 4 windows fixed (the front two covered by a recall) the rear two on our dime. Well lo and behold, 4 weeks ago, the passenger side rear window broke again, and 2 weeks after that, the rear driver side also took a second crap on us...only the fronts are covered under their recall, so as it stands, she's driving around with two broken rear window regs or clips or both...so talley that up and she's had 6 window problems in the 4 years of owning this thing. arrrrrghhhhhh. feel better yet about your KJ????

Yes, that does make me feel slightly better. Sorry to hear that you have to deal with that junk on your Jetta. Windows shouldn't break so dang easily!

No, thats because its a horribly built VW. You might as well try to make him feel better by telling him how bad a yugo is compared to his jeep. I have a Jeep, not a VW, I expect much more from it. I think its a little horrific how much trouble you guys have had with your KJ.

I have a friend with a Ford F150 who has had 0 issues in 5 years.

Compared to his ford, my libby is a POS.

Total invested in 97 XJ in 5 years - $280

Total invested in 04 Libby in 3 months - $640

*regular maintenance not included, i.e. brakes, tires, fluids, etc
