My brother decided back in late 2005 he would move me out of my dirt whole apartment and move me into his house as I prepair for my stomach by pass surgery. He did nothing except constantly bad mouth my truck '05 Dodge Dakota 4x4 5.2L. By the time the truck died and I drove home my '02 Liberty the first thing out of his mouth was "I wont mind having this parked in front of my house". He had had no problems 2 weeks earlier driving my truck after he totaled his FORD. Now on my just write this off as sibling rivalry. But thats not the end of the story when he moved me into the house he threw away several cooking items, I'm a gormet chef, he is a culinary retard. So after be got rid of a coulpe thousand dollars worth of items, he said the living arangements were for 2 years ans after he would flip the house and move on. After less then a year he decided that he wanted to rent the house so I was kicked out and he wasn't going to lift a finget to help me move back out. To make a long story Short(TOO LATE  :P   ) I have nothing to do with my brother and will not for a long time. (I know enough not to say NEVER) Anyway what I think I want to say sometime you have a ride you like and should let go for your own good but really like it POS and all. Can't explain why its like the grubby T-shirt the wife keeps throughing away and you keep digging it out. Some rides just need to go no matter how much you like it.

guess he had it delivered from the dealer and hasn't touched it since. Fixed Or Repiared Daily :-)r :-)r Now being serious window regulators are petty. Now if your trans, engine, or rear blew then yeah your jeep is a piece of doo doo or lemon. My driver window goes up and down 20-30 times a day and not one problem (yet). Favorite saying. If it's got legs or wheels it will cost you money and give you problems gauranteed!!!

I am curious.....how many of you that had bad regulators, had the window vents shields that sit in the window seam and how many did not.

Just checking to see if this is a common theme.

No kids, no dogs. The back window failed the first time I used it after the initial test drive. I've used the driver side maybe 15 times since I got it. As you can tell, I really abused it.

Funnier thing is that I have a friend who liked mine so much, she went out and bought an 07 and the driver window failed the first time she used it. we were just swapping war stories about it this evening.

If you are that dissatisfied with the Jeep and especially the window regulators, I would write a Registered Letter to one of the "Head Honchos" at Chrysler. What have you got to lose???? I have owned my KJ for 5 months with no problems, nor have there been any since it was brand new. I got it from a friend of mine. To tell a quick story, he bought it brand new in 2002, a few years ago, the wheels started to pit and get spots on them. He went back to his Jeep dealer, to no avail. They did nothing, nor wanted to do anything to help him. Obviously, the wheels shouldn't pit after a few years. So, he wrote a registered letter to the CEO of Chrysler Canada, who had to sign for the letter upon delivery. What happened, a personal phone call, then four brand new wheels delivered to the dealer for installation, PLUS he got to keep the old ones, which I have now bought from him with winter tires mounted on them. My point is, even though you bought the Liberty used, you have nothing to lose. Yes, there may be no warranty on the Jeep, but expressing your unhappiness in the product may get you something, rather than nothing.

In the end, I think you just have an isolated incident, where things decided to go wrong with your particular vehicle, just after you bought it. They say there was some trouble with the window regulators, but they seem to be far in between. I understand your frustration, just as things go wrong all at once, you get upset and say you would never buy a Jeep again. For the most part, I, as a new used Jeep owner can see, these rigs are made tough and reliable. The bad comments and reviews on KJ's are minimal. I would certainly buy a Liberty again!!

Like I say, what the hell, write a letter, make sure it is registered and send it to your CEO at Chrysler in the USA. It will only cost you a few dollars, and you may or may not get a reply.

Best of luck, and sorry for your troubles on the Liberty, trust me, they are solid vehicles.

I hope to have the same response from Chrysler. I actually sat down and contacted them three ways. One by email. Once by phone and yesterday I mailed a certified letter. I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Hopefully they will do something for you. Lets face it......if they in any way see a disgruntled customer, at the small cost to them to replace the window kit, you would think they would try to keep a Jeep owner and give you great service to retain any loyalty. Obviously, they can't do stuff like this for everybody, but given each individual issue, they should review it and decide whether or not to help people out, such as yourself. The small cost out of their pockets, in you particular issue, may gain them a longer term Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge customer. Let us know how you make out.

They wont do anything. I complained and complained about the twisted leather on my steering wheel. They said out of warranty have a nice day.

Bummer that they didn't do anything.

But it doesn't hurt to try. The worst they can do is say no.

Plus, I'd guess 30-40% of Liberty's have had window issues. If every person who had an issue contacted Jeep, you'd be talking about 300k people. If 300k complained about an issue and threatened to take their business to another company, maybe Jeep would do something about the plastic POS window regulators.

In the whole scheme of things, window regulator problems seem to be rather petty.

He's right, trying doesn't hurt a bit. Twisted leather, on the other hand, is not quite the same issue as a mechanical one that keeps recurring. It worked for brand new wheels on my Jeep with the previous owner. The dealer said the same thing, oops, too bad, your wheels are pitting. Be persistant enough, there may be a compramise.

Well, I dropped the KJ off at the stealer because my DS rear window fell into the door today. Let's see what they say. Good thing it's still covered.

FYI, I got an email response from Chrysler today. Here is what it said:

Thank you for contacting the Jeep Customer
Assistance Center regarding
your 2004 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT concerning the
window regulators.

I apologize for any inconvenience that having the
repair done on your
window regulators. If you would have went to the
dealership we could
have looked into either partial reimbursement or
assistance with the
repair.

It's regrettable that you have suffered the loss
and inconvenience
described in your message.

Thank you again for your email.

Sincerely,

Stephanie

Senior Staff Representative
Chrysler Customer Assistance Center

That being said, I think I'm going to take the car to the dealer to fix the window, then I'm going to complain again, referencing the email, and see what happens.
