6061 aluminum is lighter and stronger than a lot of steel grades.

Remember, for low impact camping, you should only used fallen limbs (and signs). As long as you didn't cut it down yourself, you're just doing your part to keep the forest floor (road) clean.

ahahahaah!! That's hilarious, but on the same hand VERY VERY awesome. I never even thought of that. They would be perfect! I had a skid on my 02 going from the bottom valance of the bumper the skid. Self tapping screws to the skid and small thumb bolts with washers throw the valance. It worked AWESOME to stop the annoying scooping of the skid. It was a factory "plastic" skid from a late model (uhm... around 95-99 or so) Chevy truck. Had a flat steel bar along the front edge which supported the valance and than ran back like an inch onto the skid. had the perfect angles to do that and everything!!! Just had to cut where it met the skid to perfect fit. Worked amazing!!!

OK OK OK since some of the great Midwest guys can not keep their mouth shut   it was a turn sign I found out along the road, keep in mind there is not a turn for like a mile, it was all beat to heck on one side and it was FREE! The ARB has a flat plate that runs from the front of the bumper back to under the radiator support, I took that one off and just made this to "curve" on down to cover the front of the engine skid. It doesnt have to be strong as it will never hit anything as the tires stick out further than the skid, mainly just covers up the front of the engine skid and front part of the suspension there. Maybe some one can help me out here as there are a couple of good pics of it on the Mdwest site under Livingston run pics , best ones are on the Saturday run, I am no good at posting this stuff, just good at coming up with cheap solutions to minor problems, or making stuff from whats laying in the garage. Will not even get into what my air deflector for the roof basket is made out of...........

I do believe it! You've already taught the rest of us a bunch of them, like the road sign skid plate, that's a classic! I'm looking at signs in a new way now......
