Maybe Hillary will do better

At any rate diesel is $3.49; RUG is $3.159. As has been said, I think the cause for the rapid increase is due to trader speculation, not a lack of supply, or increased demand.

I had a blend (roughly B40) in my tank during a fishing trip last weekend to S. Oregon... got down to the low teens at night. Off the grid, so no access to a power source to plug in the engine. I had added a little PowerService to the tank. Starting the car at 9:00 AM (maybe warmed up to 25 degrees), I let the fuel heater run for a little while (ignition on, let the truck sit for maybe 5 minutes). It struggled a little on the start up the first day (turned over maybe 4-5 seconds before catching). Day 2, when it was colder, was a bigger struggle. Took three tries to start.

I think B20 with Powerservice additive will be my fuel this winter. I plan on using the Jeep for ski trips up to 4500 feet+.

On the feds cleaning up your doggy poo, I think they will get to that sometime around the year 2173... about the time our great, great, great, great, great gandkids finish paying off the $$ for our little adventure in Iraq. Heard on the news this morning that the costs are nearing 1 trillion dollars, and a long-term, Korea-like presence could total 2.5 trillion. Everytime I fill up with B20 and look at my 25 mpg+ average, I like to think I'm giving the finger to the powers that got us into this mess.

Does availability have any effect on price?
Been in Ft. Walton Beach all week. Had to fill up the D-max (work truck)
today and drove almost 25 miles before I found a diesel pump. Almost ran
it dry. Filled up at $3.25/gal.

Dont know what the price is at home (JAX). Will find out tomorrow.

Watching CNBC today for a few minutes nearly made me sick to my stomach. Those morons were actually HAPPY that the price of crude was still going up. The commentator called it "one of the few bright spots on this dismal day for Wall Street". They were worried that oil WOULDN'T reach $100/barrel before the end of next week, when the December oil futures expire, so they could sell them off and make a handsome profit.

I just don't have the words to express my feelings right now toward that group of "people".

How does the price of diesel compare to the price of premium gasoline in the UK and Europe?

For 40+ years (my adult lifetime) in the US, diesel was ALWAYS around 10% LOWER than regular gasoline. When regular was $.85 then diesel was around $.77 or so. You could bet on the price relationship to be near that ratio.

However - in the past couple of years - diesel has often been priced equal to or as much as 10% higher than PREMIUM gasoline.

Everyone has a "theory" about why this is. But I'm curious to know if this true world-wide or is unique to our current circumstances in the US.

Lowest price here locally now is $3.33 a gallon at an Accel station on Hwy 150 between Hwy21 and I-77. Even the Citgo station closest to home that's normally been the lowest around is at 3.39.

Fortunately, I've verified that the Accel station is selling good clean fuel. I now carry around an empty instant coffee jar that holds close to a quart and pull a sample when I fill up, then let it sit overnight for any water or crud to settle out. Filled up the MB 2 days ago and pulled a sample - clear and clean, no water, no dirt, didn't turn cloudy after sitting outside in cold temps.

Location: Somewhere between Heaven and Hell... But it is really hot here on Earth...
South Florida, where you are never more than 50 miles from a port terminal (No pipe terminals in South Fl) diesel is now north of 3.50 in most places. Grr.

Oh, and RUG is just hovering around 3.18 or so, right where it was back in May, when it set a new all-time high. But the moron commentators continue to reference the "all time inflation adjusted high" from 1981. Why won't they admit the truth that prices have skyrocketed for no good reason?

Thanks a lot America. You wanted an oil man for Feerless Leeder... You thought that he would be fighting for LOWER prices / profits for his buddies? Heck no!

Oil was 75% cheaper 6 years ago, and demand hasn't risen by that same 75% worldwide. Neither has supply / production dropped. Logic says when you have eliminated all the other reasons, whatever is left MUST be the cause. What's left? Collusion. Monopolism. Conspiracy. And yet, when asked to find price fixing, the head price fixer couldn't locate a single example. Hmm.

Does anyone else think that it's a BAD idea to let the inmates decide the terms of imprisonment?

When even OPEC is saying there's no reason for oil prices to be this high, you know something is rotten in Denmark.
