I saw this tire during a search. My top choices so far were the MTR's or BFG MT's. The Kumho's are quite a bit cheaper. Here is a link: http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?tirebrand=Kumho&tiremodel=Road+Venture+MT+%28KL71%29

Anyone have any comments?

Thanx,
Chris

PS - it's crazy to see the Canadian prices cheaper than the US pricing  . What a crazy time right now.

The only problem I see is that they are directioal
so you need 2 left and 2 right but then what side do you mount the spare for?
now what I would do is get them if YOU like them
then get the cheepest SPARE I could find
remember that it is a SPARE or extra tire so you could get away with a good used tire for a spare and cover it
as long as it is the same size who cares it will get you off the trail and home then it did its job

We have 2 new MTR's on the front 2 with <5K on the rear and the spare has ~8-10K on it
paid the same for all 5
$50 per tire I got a GREAT deal

Those are what are going on my XJ if I decide to keep it. They're supposed to be the quietest mud tire on the market. The old 834s are severe snow rated, but I don't know about the KL78s

Not sure if I'm too crazy about the directional feature of the Kumho's but it is still the cheapest tire I could find. I will be doing only light trail riding anyway, nothing too intense.

thanx for the replies guys 8)

just an fyi..not sure what size you are looking at but on tirerack, the 235/75/15 size is a full $64 bucks cheaper per tire than the online link you provided...not sure if that savings is across the board but just for that size it is. $168 at your link, $104 at tirerack. times four tires that's HUGE!

the 245/75/16 is also $75 cheaper per tire than the site link you provided....just a heads up. talking big bucks in difference. for four tires you are talking almost a $300 difference...that would buy some nice extra accessories.

A local tire shop; not the one I posted; can get 245/75/16 Kumho Road Venture MT's to me for $150CAD mounted and balanced. They are on order and should arrive by mid-January. Just in time for my Xmas bonus 8) . I will be slapping these tires on a set of AEV Bridger 16x8 gunmetal rims.

Since I'm in Canada, shipping tires is not worth it if the savings are less than $200 since the shipping, duty, border fees, brokerage will eat up that savings real quick.
