For anyone not knowing about this tape, here is some information. To start with it's tape with no glue on it! The tape BONDS to itself. If you had a hole in a radiator hose all you would do is start the tape around the hose, pulling it tight on itself, make a few raps and that is it. You can replace a fan belt with it also.

Air tight, water tight, with stands up to 700lbs pressure, use up to 500 degrees F., insulates up to 8,000 volts, resistant to: fuels, acids, solvents, salt, water, road salt and UV rays.

It's a plastic tape and comes in 7 colors. I carry red and black in the KJ at all times...just in case.

Terry

It was a year or so ago that I sent for mine so I really don't remember what it cost. The only time I used it so far was on a garden hose and it worked very well!

This is basically the same stuff known in the sailing world as "rigging tape" usually used on mast side stays to wrap the gear so not to rip the jib.
Very good stuff. you can also find it at your local west marine or ship supply store.

Pricey though. Comes out to a buck a foot for the standard size.

yea thats true. if you need it, the 25 bucks will seem like nothing as long as it gets you goin again!

thats funny how certain things seem pricey, but theres always the "what if something happens" then the money factor vanishes, or at least seems A LOT more reasonably priced, VS tow bills or paying a friend to come get you :)

Personally, for the price of the tape, I would rather carry a spare set of hoses. Sure does bond to itself. But not the surface your wrapping it around. That surface needs to be very clean. I've used it with mixed results. Makes a great tool handle wrap. Never seen a radiator hose leak in a location that could be wrapped.
