Why is everyone ashamed of what the truck is based off of? To me the nitro is a half decent platform that has some serious poteltial. I think everyone just needs to remember something about a certin IFS truck made back in 02 that got the same things said about it. An how it was going to be just another mall crawler compared to a wrangler. Ebrace what you have, use the parts from whatever you can use, and build a truck worty of wearing the coveted jeep name.

HUH? why are you talking about the N***o here on the KK section? :? I heard the N***o platform is really intended for the KK but Jeep was busy getting the Patriot and Compass out and pushed the release back a year. Sounds ok to me, I mean 3 new vehicles in one year may seem a little much.

I parked my KK beside a 4X4 Nitro at Costco last night.

I dunno about the "platform" and all of that stuff, but...

with the exception of the exterior door handles, the KK is nothing like the Nitro. The Nitro seems to be quite a bit lower. The windows are all different, the doors are different, the tail lights are different. It's just a different car.

Yes, many folks may things it looks the same, but if you sit them side by side, you notice there is a huge difference.

so what? who cares? I bought a KK and I like it. Yes, I looked at the Nitro before I bought the KK, but didn't like it as well. I dunno, it's just the whole Dodge look, I don't care for the looks of most of their cars. We rented a Magnum once and I hated that thing.

However..... now that I think about it, we did rent a Dodge minivan that was extremely nice.

There are differences that make the KK much more offroad friendly than the Nitro. Shorter Wheelbase (helps breakover angle)...bigger taller window (better visibility)...real transfercase...probably weights a bit less too.

Both based on the Jeep Platform....but only ONE is a JEEP!

So, what's the deal with not spelling out N-i-t-r-o? Is that supposed to be some sort of dirty word, or something?

A KK owner saying "Nitro" would be like a Hogwarts student saying "Voldemort."
N***o is to Nitro, as "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named" is to Voldemort.
KK owners do not speak of such evil on this forum, lest they be banned and/or stricken down for committing such a heinous crime.

I take it you're not into the Harry Potter series. It's okay. I've only read the first one... but I've seen all the movies!

 um a less nerdy way to say is that no self respecting KK owner would utter those words when comparing these two models.

i dont compare them in off road comparison but in looks yes i think they look quite simular. Seriously whenever i drive by a nitro i have to take a second look to make sure its not the new KK. The looks of the KK isnt too bad but i think it would much more accepted if it didnt look like anything like a nitro or vise versa. When you style an offroad type suv like a street suv then yes it causes some mixed feelings on the matter.

I almost bought a nitro..and after comparing the to cars, the transfer case was what settled the fight for me...The nitro seams to be a great car as long as you have one that is built in 07..the 06's are crap...and from the interior, i like th look of the kk dash and the door handles..

I don't understand why you have to take a second look to see if it's a Liberty.

Go down to your local Dodge/Jeep dealer and see if they have a Liberty and Nitro parked side by side. You won't ever need those second looks again, while they may look similar, they are very different vehicles. The Liberty is quite a bit taller, and the windows are way bigger, for one thing. To me, the Nitro's low, narrow windows are a reminder of the rest of the Dodge vehicle lineup.
