so here is my starnge problem:
My brakes have been squeaking for over a year now!!! I know. I chnaged the pads over the summer and a friend that works at Lexus, cut my rotors since he thought they were still pretty good. so ever since then the squeaking has not stopped. Here is the stranger part. When the car is cold the brakes squeak and they grind until I do a hard braking with them (usualy at the end of my block) and after the hard brake, the squeaking/grinding goes away. So what do you guys think? it has been bothering me for a long time but I just dont know what to do or what to look for

Thanks in advance

I'd say you'll have to bite the bullet and change out the rotors and pads at the same time if it really is bothering you that much. Anytime you turn the rotors you could expect problems very soon afterwards. OR, less costly, turn rotors again and change pads. If the pocket book allows it, change both and be done with the problem.

I asked my mech and he said just hit the brakes hard one time and the noise would go away. He said save my money it was just an edge developeing and the hard braking cleaned the edge off.
