well after tons of abuse and hella hard driving i blew the motor on my 02 libby sport..... now i just don't know what to do! She's got a ton of miles and i've already replaced the transfer case, transmission computer, transmission, the radiator, the a/c condensor....etc..etc... i bought her with 0 miles on the odometer and she has given me the best driving experience of my life..... so here's the question... I know i probably can't get much to sell her as a whole.. and i owe about 4,000 on the payments.... so do I A>get the motor replaced for about 1500 dollars and just keep her till she dies for good... B>buy another 02 libby sport with less miles for 6 or 7 thousand, swap all of my "goodies" over and get rid of her in stock condition to some local scrap yard and see if I get at least what I owe.....C>try to fix her as best as i can and see if the dealer will take her for a trade in on an 08!..... or D> get a beater car buy Al's 6" lift and just go to all mighty hell with her... lol....

The last probably isn't the smartest thing to do... but If I can figure it out i'd do it in a heartbeat.....
Image[/img]

I'm open to ANY other info or suggestions that you guys have..... I've always been loyal to my cars and i'd hate to give up on her.. but if it's easy enough to make a clone then her memory will live on! lol....

Since you have done a lot of other upgrades/ replacement of parts etc , I would go for another motor, right now you know what you have, buying something used you dont know. Buying new well youre into payments for a while and maybe bigger than you have now. If you like the KJ and have that "fondness" we all share for them then my vote is Keep it and NEW MOTOR!!

LoL.... with the whole cloning process... I just thought i'd get a nicer looking (not so beat up) maybe more dependable jeep than what i've turned her into... one that hasn't been modded yet, that I can put all of my "proven to myself" mods... Installs might be cleaner the second time around... and she's had quite a few accidents off and on road... I just don't know! getting a new engine is starting to sound more appealing though  I've always said she's my little tank...

next question! lol.... anyone know of any kind of dependable place to get an engine shipped to me? i've never bought a used engine and would be scared of getting ripped off. I live in N.Y.C. and have only heard horror stories :) It would probably have to be complete from the intake through exhaust manifolds, and i'm sure all of the other stuff will be swappable.//// also for those that know more than I do... willl any of the year liberty engines work?? like 02 - 07?? are they all the same??

An 02', bought new, your still making payments and you still owe 4 grand! good lord man. Put a new motor in it and pay the darn thing off dont sink further into debt trading it in.

What exactly does "blew the motor" mean? do you have a rod sticking out of the side of the block? You know a rebuild will be cheaper than a new motor. Find a good shop with and rebuild if possible.

How did you blow an engine in six years? My dad is still hanging onto a 1990 Astro van with 180,000 miles on it, and it runs like a champ. How many miles did your KJ have on it when it crapped out on you?

I would take the easy way out man, Go to your nearest R.R. Crossing and OH MY GOD IT STALLED, I must quickly and safely exit the Jeep and get my self to safty before the train hits me.
Take your cell phone and call all state when the trian hits.
Pay your current insurance bill first.

Time for a small block V-8 swap. 4.7 from a Durango should work just fine.

x2 on the rebuild (if possible). You may even be able to tweak it a bit and get a little more out of the 3.7L for less than it costs for a new one.

3.7s are fairly easy to come by. I say go with what you know and don't be a guinea pig for a project somebody else wants to try but is afraid to jump into with the V8 thing. It sounds appealing and everything, but sensible folks will wait till somebody else does it.

there is no possible way your ever goin got stuff a 454 into a kj; you would have half of the motor sitting on the bumper.

Well since the R.R Corssing topic was aired, I guess that wont be happening, since that would be pretty good evidence in you Insurance Fraud Trial.

Engine rebuild or swap.

KEEP HER ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!!

BUT, If you decide to part her out, sell me the soft 8's for a song. and what ever else you can think anothe black KJ needs.

Good luck
