What is the difference between these 2 tires? they list them with the same 245/75 16 size, but actual dimensions/specs are different. Can anyone explain this to me? Thanks!

Load Rating... Top one are C's, other are E's. E's are a much heavier tire, less give in the side wall because they're a lot thicker. The ride will be harsher, and you mpg will drop more with E's than C's. However E's can support much more weight, which is why 3/4 ton trucks often have them stock.

times 2 in what Dave08 said, for example I opted for 6 ply just for less weight and a "little " mileage,

ok, thanks for explaining the load rating, that helps. Now I have a question on the sizing of them. Just looking at the 245/75 size and the section width and OD of that size.

Tire Brand - Model ----- Tire Size - Load Rating - Sect.Width - OD

Cooper - Disco ATR ----- 245/75R16 - E - 9.26 - 30.37
Cooper - Disco ATR ----- 245/75R16 - C - 9.62 - 30.52
BFG - AllTerrain AT KO - 245/75R16 - E - 9.8 --- 30.5
General - GrabberAT2 - 245/75R16 - E - 9.8 --- 30.7

OK, so maybe 2 questions... Why the difference in the 2 tire actual sizes of the Coopers in the same size? How can we even compare how one size tire will fit on the Libs if they are so far apart in actual sizes across manufacturers? Take the 245/75R16 ATR vs. GrabberAT2, both load rating E, but the ATR is 9.26 wide and 30.37 high, where the AT2 is 9.8 wide and 30.7 high. Given the dimentions, that's big difference in tire size. The Grabber could rub where the ATR may not because it is so much smaller. But the sidewall reports it as the same info. What gives?

Tires between brands, and even between different load ratings on the same model tire can have different dimensions. Different tread depths and widths can make things different too. The measuring rim width makes a difference too. On load range, the load c is the better match for the Liberty's weight. However, if you're using it a lot off road, the stiffer sidewalls and 10 ply instead of 6 ply could be helpful especially when aired down. The load e is going to be harsher on the road at proper inflation.
