REMOVAL
(1) Raise and support vehicle.
(2) Remove wheel and tire assembly.
(3) Remove half shaft hub nut.
(4) Remove stabilizer link (Fig. 1).
(5) Remove lower clevis bolt (Fig. 2).
(6) Seperate lower ball joint from the lower control
arm (Fig. 3).
(7) Pull out on the steering knuckle and push the
half shaft out of the knuckle.
8: With a pry bar remove the half shaft from the
axle.

I need a little help from the mechanics (Professional or backyard) on taking the half shaft out. I am replacing a torn inner boot. I've pasted the shop manual instructions above. Can this be done without separating the lower ball joint (step 6)? Anyone have a little more insight to steps 7 & 8? Your help is appreciated.
Matt

Ive never taken the cv out so Im not sure if you need to remove the entire Knuckle or not but from looking at pics it looks like you would have to. I dont think you would have room to get the CV out with the lower balljoint in place.

I do know that one of these kits can be rented(I got this one at Advance for $75, you get that back) at an autoparts store and its makes quick work of the balljoints, tierod end, and the CV.
