This reminds me of a song i heard years ago.....

The second week of deer camp is the greatest time of year. We drink the beer and shoot the bull, but never shoot no deer.....

Mule deer are significantly larger than white tail deer.

He did not say anything about Mule Deer. If he had I am sure he waould have said 4X4 and not 8 point. Besides they have white tails there too and they are MUCH bigger there than we have in Ky and Ohio.

Umm, since he was talking about deer where he lives (Wyoming) being bigger than than the deer that was hit in Ohio...

Yeah, they have white tail out West but the more prevalent species is the mule deer. In Ohio, there is just the white tail. SO, if he is talking about "an 8 point around here is enough to kill a Mack truck" he is likely referring to the Mule deer. Not sure what you ment by "he would have said 4X4 and not 8 point." I've never seen a 4X4 deer... white tail or mule.

Wow, slow down all of ya. yes, the deer out here are quite a bit bigger (or so I'm told... never been very far east and didn't see any deer when I was over that way). I wasn't really referring to either kind. a "4x4" has 4 points on each horn, combos like 4x5 (4 on one side, 5 on the other), 6x7, etc. are also possible. Although, most of the time, people around here just go by the number of points on one side. Thus when you said 8 point, I thought of a deer that has 8 points on each horn. That'd be a hell of a big buck, mule or white-tail.

I hit one several years ago (when I was back in Wy) just outside of Cody in my mom's buick. Deer 1, Buick 0. Deer runs off (no one ever finds him/her/it) and the buick is totalled.

Probably a regional thing. Yep, an 8 pointer has a total of 8 points on it's antlers... so 4x4, & as far as I know a 3x5 would also be 8 point.

I will work on posting pics tomorrow, not so camera and computer smart. I did replace the battery and the Great Deer Hunter is running as strong as ever.

Here's what $2600 worth of deer damage looks like..

Image

The headlight and grille piece were cracked, The hood was jammed into the passenger door and the fender was krinkled.

Oh, and the foglight was MIA.

The Liberty is a very solid battering ram!

My at-the-time very pregnant wife who was sitting in the passenger seat can attest to this first hand  .

I got a riding buddy (motorcycle)who hit a deer at at about forty mph on his fatboy, the doe didn`t make it . The guy with the tow truck got the deer. It cost my buddy $8000.00 and a broken leg . bend the frame and the whole front end.

Not so on a KJ.

Wife's battery went dead just like that and did the exact same thing. The voltage regulator in in the PCM not the alt or elswhere so when the voltage drops below a certian level it just wont turn over or power anything.

In my XJ it clicked and did all the old nboises you are talking about.

Mine did the exact same thing on Monday!! I was able to get it to keep running by giving it a little gas for a minute or two. Electrical test at the closest CJD dealer showed bad battery. It was only about half way through its rated life! That's the last time I buy a battery from O-O-O-O'Reilly's.
