32"s are what's recommended, so 33"s aren't that far off. I'd think that the cutting would be minimal, especially if the Rock Lizard bumpers where in use. I'm thinking that if the Jeepin' by Al rear lower control arms were used with the RL bumper cutting would be minimal...but that is based on little more than my imagination. Up front, seems like proper backspacing & the upcoming RL bumper would allow for the 1/2" increase in radius. Just doesn't seem like much.

Whole lot of talk on what size tires, etc but nothing on what everyone is going to do about the gearing, 32/33 inch tires and 3.73s ??

Another thing to consider when contimplating 33" tires is if the Dana 30a (grenade) will handle them???? :? I have my doubts unless you are a pavement princess! 33" tires is ALOT of extra weight! With the amount of people blowing the diff's with 245/75/16's I would have my doubt's that 33's will last very long!
And also what tom said the gearing will have to be changed! You will want at least 4:10's at the minimum!

Cripes man! I just blew $3,000 on my suspension! I'm tapped out!!!!

Besides, I'm looking into the future. My 30" have at least a year left in them. the Gearing issue is definately on my mind, but who cares about proper gearing for a tire that I can't use? First I find out if 33"s are even posible, then I look at gearing issues. :D

I'll be reinforcing the 30a, & if it blows, I'll be looking at the WK differential. Again, planning for future mods, bank account empty for now. Before I even look at tires or gears, I need more mundane things like skid plates, rocker gaurds, those Rock Lizard bumpers... For now, I only care if 33" wheels could work in the space provided.

with a 4inch lift and some cutting of pinch welds, and rear fender flares and perhaps a bit off the rear door... i think 33's is def. possible. i have 32's on mine right now and the stock gearing is not a problem at all (but i have a 6 speed).. i think with a manual tranny.. and 4.10's the KJ could pull the 33's fine. now the D30a in the front you'd have to be careful with.. untill it blew up then replace it with a wk's (which is a great idea by KJpilot).. then i wouldnt see any problems with them. this is of course all in theory

i cant wait to see the 4 inch lift install pictures! and the final product...

Thank you! But I'm not the first. The Liberator used the WK's front diff at least a year before I even purchased my KJ. I'll be sure to snap some photos. I live about 5 miles from Burnsville Off Road & they have a RTI ramp. I'm going to call them & see if they will let me use it. Don't know if they will since I didn't buy anything from them, but who knows!

I guess I look at things completely different than most, I want gears etc ready before I lift. Have Lifted way too many vehicles to lift it first and then go back later and get the right gearing/ tires.

and yes with a 5/6 speed you may run 32/33s but its still not the best set up, heck read the posts from the Rubicon guys even they change out the gears to run 33s etc.

Like I said before, many suspension components were going bad, & fast. So, lift kit had to come first. I'm not worried about it, though. 4.10s are readily available for the KJ, & 32"s work on the 4" kit, so even if I can't get the 33"s, I can still be happy. :D

It is a steel case & from what I've been able to find, it uses the same 8.25 gears as our rear axles. Mounting it will require some modifications.

so youre saying a D30 from a WK uses the same gears as the KJ 8.25 rear , let me know when youre going to install those I want to take lots of pictures

I never got this far but if you cut out the whole section where the pinch weld is...there is more metal behind there. With a bit of creative reinforcement, you would make a bunch more room.

Nope, not what I'm saying at all. You sure seem to be in a big hurry to assume I'm a fool though!

I'm saying the front differential (WK) is NOT a Dana 30 at all. From what I have been able to pull together, it is a corporate case using the 8.25 gears. When I do get around to this, in at least 2 years, I'll take some photos for you.

Yeah! It's exciting! :D
I just checked the weather, it's supposed to be 15 degrees F (-9C) on the 12th for a high... That tempers the excitement a bit, but I still have enough excitement to keep me warm!

Just curious, who has tested and really wheeled this lift? When Al owned the company, I'd say it was still in "R&D" to say the least. (Not knocking Al, just wondering how far the lift has come since the time we spent under it fixing popped springs and bent rear tri-links). And he's got Joe's jeep in the pictures? Joes a great guy too, but never wanted to do any really hard black trails at Paragon? I remember I couldnt talk him into "The good, The bad and the ugly" at Paragon. That was a great little trail. Martin been wheeling his lift?

Not knocking any of these guys and dont know Martin at all, just wondering. Again, my only experience with it was wheeling with Al back in the day at the Noreaster.

I'm kind of under the impression that Joe Jeeper has the design prototype & test bed, and Tokyo Joe & I are the first customer install, I might be wrong. Unfortunately, I won't be able to really test it until spring time. No good places to go around here, & I won't have money for skid plates until then either. I'm not going to push too hard without protection, it's the family car!

I'm not too concerned about being a guinea pig. I know a lot of R&R has gone into this kit, it uses quality parts, & it's pretty cool being one of the firsts! :D

Plus, Marlin is standing behind his work, from his web site:"12 month money back GUARANTEE, If your not happy with the lift, box it up and ship it back, I will give your MONEY BACK!" So, even if things go horribly wrong, I can trade it in for a OME HD lift to replace it. Not much risk here in my opinion. :D

A lot of rest and relaxation (R&R) has gone into this lift kit? That sounds a little problematic!
