I could see how the frameless design would pull-back more water. With the structure being so close to the windsheild, and a design that interacts aggressively with the relative wind, there is probably a relative vacuum on the down wind side of the blade. Makes sense to this pilot any way.

I've been using the Trico blades - ExactFit. They have been working very well for so far, have them on for about a month. I don't worry issues at high-speed though, I never go above 60 mph! Seriously...

blake, there is $10 rebate on those, and they don't cost $20 for a pop, I think I paid like $15 a pop, and I sent in $10 rebate,.. so in the end, it is even cheaper than your rain-x

I checked those out at walmart tonight. They seem pretty cool but the only thing is my uncles Tahoe has some frame-less ones(what ever chevy uses) and they suck. They hoped and skipped all over the place. :?

Maybe it was just the cheap crap that chevy uses..

The day I got my ICONs there was wet snow that was clogging the Bosch Excels that had worn out in three or four months and that were skipping all over because the snow kept freezing in the frames. The ICONs were excellent immediately and have continued to be even though it has only been about a week in a variety of rain, mist and snow. I hope they last longer than the Bosch Excel did.

Yes, I got a rebate too but I haven't checked to see how big it is. I will do that today when I send it in. I am also running 19" without issues yet. I wish I could et one for the rear.

I use Valeo 900 series Ultimate blades. I will never use another brand or type of wiper but Valeo 900 series Ultimates. They look very similar to the Bosch Icons, but I have no experience with the Icons.

I purchased the Valeo Ultimates in Dec of '06 and one year later, they still work good as new. There is no chatter or streaking, just quiet, smooth operation and I am not a windshield cleaning ninja by any means. In fact, I think I only cleaned the windshield less than a half dozens times the whole year. And, I don't use any rain-x or any other windshield treatment products. I live in the deep South and have not tried them in ice and snow though.

$18.49, from Amazon.com with free super saver shipping. They still have the same price and shipping deal this year.

Man! You've never used Rain-X treatment on your windshield? You do not know what you are missing! I mean torrential severe down pour that stops traffic, & I don't even have to turn on my wipers... at all... no exaggeration!

That's cool and great and awesome and stuff, but hey, when the wipers work and they don't chatter, squeak or streak, why not use them and save the coin you would spend on treatment stuff like Rain-X, RejeX or AquaPel for something else. Wouldn't that be neat?

Also, in most states that I drive in, it is the law that if it's raining, wipers and lights are on.

And besides anyway, since I don't use the treatment stuff, I don't have to buy special cleaning stuff to clean the treatment stuff off stuff like wipers and windshield because it makes the wipers chatter, squeak and streak or obscures vision through the windshield over a long period of time. I like to keep it simple.

I have spent exactly ... zip ... on windshield treatment and special cleaning products because I have wipers that work. Hmmm what a concept eh? 8)

NAH, the Rain-x leaves no residue, if applied properly, & will not cause chattering or any other issues with the wipers. In fact, it probably helps prolong the wiper's life, by smoothing the surface they sweep. Wipers cannot keep up with the rain storms I'm talking about... that is why the traffic is stopped.

The law in Minnesota is if the wipers are on, lights need to be on. That isn't to get you to use the wipers, they figure the driver is smart enough to figure that out, but to get people to turn on the lights so other drivers can see you in low-vis situations.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to get you to back down, or convince you that I'm absolutely right. I just find that it is an outstanding product, & vastly increases driving safety in the rain, as such I feel I need to get the word out!:). I love my Icons, but during the rainy season, I'll take the Rain-x treatment & standard cheap wipers over the Icons only any day.

Not a problem. I am not one to get into a pissing contest here over Rain-X, RejeX, AquaPel or any other glass treatment because I don't use or have a need to use the stuff. I've seen plenty of threads on other boards that go for pages about their positives and negatives. It is just not an issue for me.

I will stay on topic and stand behind my recommendation for the Valeo wipers. I wouldn't leave home without them so to speak. For my bucks, they are the 'be all to end all' wiper. Although, as I noted earlier, they 'appear' similar to the Icons, but I just have no reason at all to try the Icons so I can't really compare them. :)

I always switched to winter blades for the snowy season until last year. I had a new winter blade on the driver side and a Trico Innovision blade that I picked up at BJ's for about $12 each on the passenger side. It didnt take long for me to switch the winter blade with another Innovision blade. Now I dont need to switch blades twice a year and they are the best wipers I've ever had. I wouldn't pay $25 for them but at $12 its not that much more than a good winter blade ( I wont use the cheap China crap). http://www.tricoproducts.com/brochure.cfm?brochure=2838&location_id=65

That may be true, but I just looked at the package that they come in (I keep one in stock) and it says that the one I have is made in the best place on earth..USA

Any other suggestions for a GOOD Winter blade?? One that will perform well in ice and snow?? Hard on wipers when the temp melts snow in the day, then goes down to -20 at night.

Here is a review of Silblades that you might be interested in. I have not tried them, but you may read what you want to hear, who knows. They have a 5 year warranty, but sure are expensive.

I'm about to order two of those Bosch Icons from Amazon. So two of the 19" would be the good choice instead of two 18"?
