wow.. your KJ is AWESOME and it took some nuts to do what you did. If no one thought out of the box we'd all be driving unlifted KJ's.. i commend you for being a KJ pioneer and look forward to more/new pictures of swmpthg. i also thought you were selling it?

:x And you know this how? If your not KJ up 5.5 inchs?? You only know what happens when you try something new.. and I have put 10,000 miles on the lift and the only thing I have broken is tie rods. Im sure your KJ is up 2.5 or 3 inchs, so If you dont know what will happen with a 5.5 inch lift then don't say what will happen. I hvae been off roading this rig for months now with 33's and 5.5 inchs up with 10,000 miles on it and my cvs have yet to break. I know they are more apt to break being that high up. But that is the chance im willing to take to try and achieve more clearance. Im configuring a small cradle drop now and soon to order als arms. my rig will be the same cv angle as everyone who is running the 2.5-3 inch lift. Just experiment and you can do whatever you want to with your build. things break you figure a way out to make it better and stronger to refrain from another break.

As long as your a careful wheeler then your cvs will be fine i believe as i have put many miles on the stressful 5.5 inch. the main thing you need to do is turning sharp while wheeling also be careful in reverse. those two things will break my cvs much quicker if i turn sharp while climbing.

I took the chance to lift my KJ up this high and I KNOW what can happen doing so.

Nice work mate, I like the look and the determination you have to build this monster KJ. I'm interested to know (you may have already said this) what's in the 5.5" lift. Is it springs & spacers then the 33" take up the rest to 5.5" or is it all in the suspension.

its all suspension that makes the 5.5 inchs.. the tires ad lift too but i didn't add that in.

Thanks mate, that's one hell of a lift. Other than getting new upper A-Arms do you think you need to do anything else to help with the offroad performance?

Yes im going to cut 3/8 to 1/2 inch off the front face of the cv cup as i call it.. and other than that I might fabricate a small cradle drop but other than the als arms and cuttin the cv cup for light trails and the offroading i do i won't need to do anything else but if i planned to do serious off roading like rock or something then i would be doing other things... like a sfa swap but for my off road prefrence I don't think i will need to do anything else to it.

There's a guy on cardomain (perro bravo) that combined Rusty's 2.xx" spacer and 2.5" suspension lift with pics. He got 5+ inches of lift as well.

Besides installing a 5.5" lift...

2 inch wheel spacers all around.. rear did nothing just took the inner fender (lining) out
the front i trimed the fenders and bumper as you can see and cut the pinch welds and also took the inner fender out as well

Have asked before but never got an answer, how far is your alignment out? :? Mine is as close as they can get it with just OME Heavy Dutys, now I know with Als arms I would be good but another 2/2.5 inches it would have to be way out even with the arms. I appauld your way of thinking/lifting but dont think it would hold up running 35/40000 a year the way I do!

I'm sure had to modify the cam bolt holes to get more adjustment out of it. I have al's arms and mine is barely in spec. TAl told me to modify the holes, but the shop got it close enough and i'm not noticing any abnormal tire wear.

myjeepwalks........modify the cam bolt holes??????No way to do that a hole is a hole, also the cam fits into an area with the cam being off center on the bolt, so there is no way to off set the hole and do the alignment, if a shop does that with out a bunch of extra work I sure dont want them touching mine. have you ever looked a cam bolt? Having been a certified alignment and front suspension tech not sure how that would work :? :? :?
