Quite a while back I posted about the DTT/Powertrax. I didn't know what I wanted. I have been thinking about it a long time. I have now decided on the DTT in the rear. I don't know how to install it so I am procrastinating.........but I will get it............. I have been trying to research a local place= that I feel comfy with= to do the instal.

Im contemplating taking the powertrax out and getting me a TrueTrax for the rear. I only go offroad 2-3 times a year which is the only time the powertrax is really needed and even then I could probably make it if I was open since there are always liberty's there that are.

The road manners are just alittle annoying. Ive been spinning tires on dry blacktop which is not good news when pulling out then a car comes. Sometimes it will even lock up after a tire has started spinning which causes the entire Jeep to jump forward with a nice loud bang from the locker. Im just waiting for something to give.

Anyway, Ill probably be taking the locker out and going back to open till I can find something else with better road manners. I understand the TT will be alittle hard on the install, but I believe Ive got a friend that can do that for me to save the install $$.

How many people ave the TT and what are your views on it? Does it add more slack in the drivetrain like the powertrax locker does?

Where did you buy it? Ive only found one place online that had it and I had never heard of the place.

Thanks for any advice. :)

I had a tru trac in the front of my TJ. One of the best investments I ever made............Awsome in the snow.......tru trac in the front ARB in the back is near unstoppable, at least it was in the TJ.... I plan on putting tru trac front and rear in my Libby but I want to do some research to see if it conflicts with ESP............... :D

How hard is the Truetrac to install?
Are any special tools required?
Are instructions available online so I can review them before I buy? Edit: I found the instructions.
Thx!

My last play Commando was spooled front & rear. That got to be a bit of a pain sometimes. The '79 Chero will eventually wind up TT front/spool rear.

I've driven with a spool for a whole winter here ( it was in a '68 383 Super Bee, but that is another story), and it did not bother me nearly as much as one ride in a YJ with a stick and a lunchbox locker on an icy/snowy day. Maybe the stick makes the difference, maybe me riding rather than being in control made a difference, but it is something that I didn't really enjoy.

I've heard horror stories about trying to remove a powertrax as that little pin you push in during the install can be very hard to get out. May want to look into this before you make any purchases.
