At less than 2 yrs and 13k miles, window reg number six has given up its ghost. So That means I get to take the jeep in Wed at 730 just so the tech can say "yep the reg is out, let's order the part". On a positive note...the jeep was in the shop so much this year I actually got a Christmas card from the dealership.

I love my kj, but this is getting a little silly

National backorder...Now there's a new twist. I don't suppose I would get some sort of assistance if the jeep was out of service for 2-3 weeks??

you could try. i'd doubt they'll do anything. i work for a fleet management company and one of my drivers that contacted me has a kj. i can't remeber what dealer but they told me the parts were on national back order when i was doing a follow up for him as to why the parts weren't in yet. this was like a month ago. driver was waiting like 3 weeks for parts and they still weren't in. dealer told me the parts come in batches of like 5 but obviously there are tons of people in line. who know's if they were b/sing me or not.

I had two regulators replaced on my '07 today. My last vehicle, also a Chrysler product had 3 replaced.

well from reading all the laws that i hve had to read os of late know that a vehicle only has to pass the reg's of the exact date it was produced. IF you dont want to take my word for it consult the federal laws. All state laws have to be based; at least loosely based on federal laws; to get goverment fundning(sorry ive boon at the bar). An all states are always fihting for funding now a days(especialy Hirricane Catrina stare and california because of wildfires) So unless the update to the driver for the PCM actually helps the vehicle; or your green friendly; dont worry about it. The stuff manufacturers are coming out with ony cover their own butt. I am one of a few things. A professional painter(painting since i was 10; now 23; and a micro programmer(BMP from University of Wisconsin Madison). An I can tell you that unless they came out with a major recall that would effect all 3.7l motors to the point that they could not function without the mod it dosnt make a difference. My word not the gospel..........

4 Jeeps and weve only had one go bad on one of them. It was a Cherokee.. Kinda funny that someone would base their decisions of getting another Chrysler product on a window regulator. I tend to look at more important things.

Maybe we should make a how-to on how to use a power window? Some people I ride with push the button a minimum of 20 times before it makes it all the way down.

I was thinking that window regulators must be strange beasts. I mean if one is going to break it must be the one on the drivers window. That one just has to be the one that gets the most use since there is always a driver. Yet, I don't remember the last vehicle I had with manual windows, and have had power windows on everything and not had any problems with them except on one vehicle.

I have had several GM cars and trucks with high mileage and no problems. But now I have a high mileage 99 Cutlass (bought new) with the passenger side rear regulator broke. It has been that way for way over a year and is stuck in the up position so I havn't bothered with it. Also no one hardly ever sits in back and it got the least use so why did that one break? The drivers side front is fine and I use it all the time. Go figure???

The ones in my jeep have been fine so far and I use the drivers one a lot.

Oddly enough it wasn't the driver's window that went out. It was the front passenger and rear driver's side. I still love our KJ though.

Brought the kj into the dealer first thing this morning. Reg number 6 was replaced in under one hour! Also, fast friendly service once again from the local dealer. My goal is to make it to spring without replacing another

German cars (VW, BMW, Audi, Benz) have had a long history of bad regulators......

Left rear window reg replced TWICE already. My rear windows get so LITTLE use too, maybe a dozen times a year....I don't get it. Crappy parts. The good news is, that I get a fresh 3 year warranty from my dealer on that part each time it is replaced.

I think my wifes VW has disposable window regs...they go so often. argh.... then again, I also agree that some people dont use their power windows right....one such person is the wife....and I've seen many others do this too. The windows are frozen adn covered with snow...they use the dang power window controls to break the ice seal and clean the snow off by retracting it into the door...this drives me bonkers when someone does that in my ride!!! I have to stop and give a lesson that the power windows are not to be used as ice scrapers...let alone when frozen in the up position to the rubber trim...at least let them thaw a bit before using a tiny weak motor to move ice. LOL
