I can't believe how many people are being so negative over something they are not even experiencing! I knew what I was getting into! And honestly so did everyone else here. There is a reason I bought it & there is a reason why other people didn't.

I am happy to be doing what I'm doing. I'm not as risk adverse or as impatient as some of the rest of the people on this board. If taking the time to get things sorted out on a pioneering project is not your cup of tea, then you have done the right thing by not entering the game yet. I prefer to take the road less traveled.

Marlin is running a small business, far smaller than ARB. In fact, I wonder How ARB tested their first products before becoming an international corporation? I bet it began with a few guys willing to take a risk.

Marlin is performing impeccably as a businessman, rest assured I'm satisfied. I know what he's doing right now to fix the problem, I know that he's dedicated to getting it right. There is one issue with the kit, which is easily resolvable. As long as Marlin is alive, I know he's absolutely dedicated to making his kits the best available, and his customers the happiest around.

Then it should be marketed as a R&D lift. Who would want to spend that much on a potential poser lift? Rock Krawler made one of those, remember?

Do you suppose that was why he had an introductory sale price? Perhaps that is why Marlin has a one year no questions asked money back guarantee? How can you get out of bed everyday knowing that the world has not been perfected yet? :?

Listen, I am not bashing this lift! I'm just dumbfounded on how it's being sold and marketed! It's great Marlin is willing to work with customers with the install! Once those install issues are ironed out, I hope he continues to work with you with any failure issues on the trail.

My point is just that this thing does not seem ready. Marlin can run his business any way he sees fit. To me it seems backwards to market something he has no idea how much it still costs to install, and then have no idea on how it will perform. We've seen Al's arms fail, luckily nobody was injured and it happened on the trail. Any suspension component failure at hiway speeds can be catastrophic. Sorry to seem so negative but I wish you luck!

1) he's not helping me with the install. he's working with me to iron out the problems... irons get wrinkles out.

2) You & I & everyone else who has been watching this, knew that this was an untested kit. It came up in my previous thread, at which point in time I acknowledged that I knew that things were going to come up, because, at that time, there was only Joe Jeeper. & that Tokyo Joe & I were going to be the first actual customers. This information was not held from us, it was known. There was no deceptive marketing or promises made by Marlin or anyone else.

3) Anything mechanical can fail... MOPAR ball joints, anyone?

4) I could care less what anyone thinks of the lift, but Marlin is an upstanding, outstanding business man. The insinuation that he is anything but an honest & caring business man is what is ticking me off. Especially when I'm the one who is experiencing the outstanding level of customer service & support, & those who insist he's doing things wrong barely even know his name!

 Why do you seem so testy? This is just a discussion and you only seem to come back with anger to legit questions? Honestly, I dont give 2 turds about you or that lift or whatever his name is. I'm just doing what this forum is about, discussing when people have questions about KJ's. Your sticking up for him solely because you bought his lift? This is from his site:

"We are successfully doing what others say can't be done!"

IMO, it still hasnt been done. You are proof of that and I'm sorry you are getting so annoyed. Again, good luck with.[/b]

KJpilot...the whole point is that some 'might assume" that this lift is tested and ready to go...after all, it is listed on the webpage and you can buy the parts. Those facts alone would lead any resonable person to the conclusion that this is a working lift...instead of a lift in progress. Eveyone here is pulling for the success of this lift but this forum is here to help people make informed decisions...nobody is shooting down the effort...just waiting to see the outcome.

Let's just keep this thread informative and not insulting...it will benefit all of us

I have no issues at all with my 4" lift. Marlin took mine apart tested my front springs and ordered new springs which will be available shortly.
I drove his with the springs that tokyojoe has and his drives great not a problem that's why he has them in the kit? I'm going to 6" and I want the springs he has. Just thought I'd let you know. Joe

Joe,

Are you over 5" of lift? There has to be a specific reason if you are at 4" of lift and KJPilot and I are over 5" of lift with the same components. It can't just be a fluke in Jeep Liberty's to make that big of a difference. Just like my brake line connectors were messed up by the manufacturer (twice), I can only see the problem in the lift components.

I have no problem with waiting for the solution (unless weather goes bad again). I'm not going to complain just state the facts. I am very appreciative to get the lift to test and be a part of Liberty history.

My concerns are looking at it from a newbys perspective, say a person just bought a used 04 KJ, started looking around and says I want to lift it, finds Marlins site everything looks great, so orders it and only to have problems from the get go, gets mad sells the KJ and buys a horse.  I just think it should of been introduced to a few for real world testing , RL was a good one to contact , maybe some others to put them on run them and compare notes. I would hate to see him loose a bunch of business due to not having all the bugs worked out. I appauld him for buying out Al and taking it to the next step and working with the two who have bought. But still...not slamming him

I do not see where I have insulted anyone. Keeping everyone informed is exactly what I am doing.

How many people have posted that they are interested in the kit, but want to wait to see how things turn out?

How many times has Tokyo Joe & myself called ourselves "guinea pigs"?

Everyone here knew & knows the likelyhood of at least one problem was high because we were the first couple out the door.

Sorry if I have a hard time watching some people tear others down needlessly.

They have done it twice, & within a few days, it will be successful again. I already told you why I'm testy. And oh yeah... Thank you for not giving me your two turds!

That's an understandable concern. I believe that Marlin would have made certain that a buyer knew what he was buying a first run kit, & that issues may come up.

Marlin emailed me & said that Jeeper's springs are 350 lbs, while ours are 450lbs. 450 is what he's using for the 6" lift kit.

I did not single you out...it was a general statement...

KJpilot wrote:

You are still missing the point...most are not knocking the lift and others might not have the knowledge that this is under construction...people are giving concerns and you seem to be taking it personally.

KJpilot wrote:

Every post is not viewed by everyone...obviously by the responses that seem to be bothering you. They are here wondering about the lift and it's progress...nothing more, nothing less.

KJpilot wrote:

The sarcasm  is the whole problem...why are you having a problem with people questioning the progress of such a purchase? Spending this much for some is a BIG DEAL and this forum is here to illuminate all points of view. Heck, some people don't think that any lift is a good lift...

KJpilot wrote:

There might be some that are showing a bit more frustration with the situation, but usually that all works itself out with time and testing. It is time to just stand back and let the comments be made without getting upset...some will agree, some will be confused and others will be chomping at the bit.

Darby,

I'm not missing the point in the slightest. That  is not indicating sarcasm. It's indicating "Sheesh! I've been through this 12 times already for crying out loud!"

I'm afraid it is you that is missing the point. Like I posted above, my pride & ego over my choice in lift kits is not the issue that has my undies in a bunch. People are slamming a man who is running an honest business & working his tail off to make a product for the KJ, as being dishonest. This is wrong, & by God, I will keep saying it until you & Dave and anyone else who thinks otherwise finally understands! Here's another word: libel (read 2a)

Nobody was deceived. Nobody was misled. Nobody is dissatisfied. In fact, I am uber-impressed with Marlin & his efforts. Everyone knew before going in what could be expected, & I am confident that Marlin would have informed anyone walking into this situation that he was getting a first run product & may experience some issues. If you knew this, I knew this & everyone else here knew this, why do you think that nobody else would be able to figure it out?

I do not see anyone SLAMMING the company or the man. You need to let the comments go and not take them so hard. People that have been here a while have seen kits/products/companies come and go and are questioning the current standing of a lift that is offered for sale on a website. The point is the comments are welcome from all L.O.S.T. Members and you have also been able to make your feelings known. DROP the debate that deals with how others feel about the lift and just keep it factual. It is not for you to determine what questions or comments other wish to interject...but it is up to me and a few others here to decide how long this thread will continue. Honestly, there is not a problem as long as it stays on subject and informative. This is the last I am going to try to explain that this is the nature of this forum and L.O.S.T.

Back to normal programming :D

I am not asking for a lot: a good lift kit to go between my current frankenlift and SFA, somewhere in between. I don't think I'll have the budget / time / patience for SFA conversion, so the next best thing is 6" lift that will hopefully keep things sane down below.

Or, maybe I'll just keep wheeling my rig like it is now. It's not like it's not performing or anything ... I've got no complaint. Time is on my side :)
