Let's all take a deep breath. I have a question, if I'm allowed to ask. I'm confused...

KJPilot, if you bought the 4" lift, why did you get 450lb springs for a 6" instead of the 350lb springs? Was that just a mistake or is this still the trial and error to find what will work? Just adding higher spring rates wont add more lift, just a stiffer ride so now I'm curious about that 6" he's talking about. We can save that for another thread though.

If this is too upsetting, please just disregard the post. I'm just asking because I thought thats the whole purpose of this thread.

In regards to the 4" lift, when you click on the pic of the rear springs on the JBA site it shows that a set of longer lower control arms are recommended at $365.95, are they in fact needed?

Also, would longer adjustable front swaybar links be needed?

I have the original front sway bar links don't see a need for longer ones, may get the disconnects in future but undecided. I don't have the adjustable lower rear control arms but I think I should have. I cut off the rear corner of the rear door wheel well flare and moved the gasket forward so my tire fits center articulating, wouldn't have had to do that with the adjustable lower arms. (it was an economical move at the time, cutting was free). Joe

So far, I see no need for the longer rear control arms. Of course, I do not have the larger tires yet and have not wheeled yet to "test" the rear movement.

450 is way too strong for the KJ even if you get an ARB bumper and Winch in it. Perhaps the CRD with ARB and winch would be perfect but not a gas KJ. I think making it between 375-400 would work but if Joe's got 350 and it works, that should be what KJPilot and I need.

Yes, ask questions about the lift. That is not what I was railing against. People should ask questions & express concerns about the lift. There used to be accusations on this thread that called Marlin's honesty in to question... that is what I was trying to correct. I hope everyone understands me this time! It shall be the last time I try.

The answer to your question is I don't actually know. The springs were drop shipped from Eibach, which leaves open the possibility for honest errors form both JBA & Eibach. these things can happen in any distribution model.

Marlin bought JBA from Al & some of these projects where completed, part completed, & being assisted by a third party. Perhaps there was an error in the spec notes calling for 450 lbs for both lifts. But this is just speculation on my part.

I'm guessing that there will be delay in the release of the 6" lift until JBA gets this anomaly straightened out.

Now lets all have that group hug!

Thats very refreshing that it was a drop shipment error and not a shot in the dark "let's see if it works" kind of thing. Everybody knows 450lb springs are only needed on CRD with an ARB bumper, winch, plow, and mack truck emblem on the hood.

Just to clarify, I said that that was a possible problem, & I do not know the actual reason. I'm sure the problem was not just a "shot in the dark & missed" issue, but I do not know the real reason

I think I've been gone way too long. So there's now a 4" lift out there for the KJ? That's great! Now I wish I hadn't bought a house 'cause I could have used that money for the lift. Well, there's always my birthday. Maybe I'll start bugging my wife now...for the lift I mean. :)

He was removed. Hopefully the MFG of the lift will chime in and we can get the info from the horses mouth.

I just emailed Marlin with the questions I had on this lift and invited him here to set his record straight. We'll see.

Hey Marlin,

Your lift was being chronicled on LOST. The guy posting suddenly disappeared, but not before defending you and your business to the end. To me that just goes to show you must be a stand up guy who cares for his customers, but in honesty, I'm more concerned about the product.

I have some questions.

On how many KJ's have you successfully installed this lift, not counting JoeJeepers (Jeff Daniels did that) or Al's old test mule since that has a custom craddle drop.
Where has the testing of the components been done? Any pictures? What kind of trails were you running?
What is you experience with lifting or working on Jeeps? Do you like to wheel? If so, what do you wheel now?

I'm not trying to be a smart booty. I think these are valid questions. I welcome you to LOST to post up set the record straight, but I'm very skeptical about this whole thing. I'd love for you to prove me wrong.

Thanks,
Dave

I haven't said much about this lift, but this is my opinion from installing the first "test mule".

First, the rear is just about perfect, the spring rate hieght is about perfect, the rear tri-link drop(hestitent at first) is a real ease to install and does it's job, real amazed by this idea. The supplied rear bumpstops are less then desired and problems with the extended brake lines(not JBA's fault, not his lines) are the only rear drawbacks. The adjustable rear control arms don't look to be needed if you stay under 32" tires.

Second, the front needs softer springs and maybe a little shorter, trying to get the CV's cut can be expensive unless you opt for the pre-cut ones.Again problems with the extended brake lines but not needed in the front.Besides the high spring rate the front is pretty laid out and set,oh and grade 8 hardware is needed.

Oh and Marlin has been told about all of these items and is working on them, some of the smaller companies don't get the all the $$$$ for all the R&D work, can make or break them but He has listened to all the install notes and is making the proper adjustments to make a good lift using high quaility parts.

We have been asking for an A-Arm spacer since 2002 for the rear...finally got one... 8) . I would like to see if it would help those with a 2.5" lift? I also wonder if cutting the CV Axles would help members with a 2.5" lift?
