Can you compress OME HD front coils with rachet straps??? or is that like asking the grim reaper to scratch your back? doesn't seem like the safest idea to me.

Not the safest idea, but you could probably make it work depends how good you are. I wouldn't suggest to go try it though.Use the right tool for the job!

400 lb/in - you need to compress them 2 maybe 3 inches - 1200lb of pressure doesn't sound like a good idea to me
you can rent compressors at most auto parts shops - and even then a chain through it in case something breaks is a good idea.
or take it to a local brake shop - mine only charged $20 to compress a set of springs
(I had everything ready and it took about 10 minutes)

I highly doubt it. I couldn't compress my stock springs enough where i felt safe taking the strut plate nut off using ratchet straps as a compressor. I dont like hospitals so waited till the next day and got a spring compressor.

thats what I thought...this is a great site, but some peoples advice seriously seems to void their sanity, despite the good intentions.

Ya gotta remember some people believe that anything that is told to them is gospel and will work, some wont listen to people who have done it before, and try it anyways but most of all just use common sense and anyone that would say to use rachet straps DOES NOT HAVE ANY AT ALL!!!I have heard some things on other sites, not so much on here that makes me scratch my head and go WTH???!!!! Some of the things people come up with

at least rent spring compressors from auto zone like 50 bucks and u get ur money back when u bring it back. pluss u will have all ur fingers and toes.. be careful though these things are liked a cocked gun, deff. better than some straps. better yet just pay someone to do it for u im sure it will be worth it in the long run
