Over the past several months I have noticed when I am driving around 15-35 my Libby shakes. When at 25mph it feels like I am almost driving down a wash board gravel road. My rig is a 2002 Libby Limited with 78k miles. I have stock rims but +1 rubber on them. Any ideas what it could be? I got the tires about...1 year and a half ago maybe a little more. Come to think of it I also feel vibrations when I hit around 70-80MPH also.

I have had my brakes checked and they are straight. The wheels were balanced back when I got the new rubber. Any ideas?

You may of lost a weight, most times tires if unbalanced go through two cycles if you will, they will give you a shake at a low speed and then a higher speed , most times double the speed of the lower one, but in between they will be fine, so check that first.

I never thought about a lost weight. As for the shocks, they are the original ones. If I do have to replace them I have been debating a OME lift. Think the wife will notice :D

Depending on your build date, she may not really notice the lift of an OME suspension. She WILL notice the ride, and the hit on the bank account. Not the same price as a stock suspension, but worth every penny of it. The shaking could also be ball joints and tie rod ends.

When parts of the suspension wear out it can cause the wiggling you are talking about.

My wife and I are in the NW part of town near Decatur and Farm area, way in the Northwest, we are nearly surrounded by ranches and horse property. I do not have any stickers associating it to LOST yet though. I was going to buy some when I first joined several years ago but got tied up in life and since then forgot my password and cox changed their email address so I was SOL on that account. Thank you Clint for letting me back. :)

If I were to replace the stock suspension would you recommend the shocks for the Durango? I saw that in another post somewhere. As for the ball joints and tie ends, I did ask the Dealership to check it out but since Towbin sold the Jeep name it has gone down hill, no offense if someone works at Desert :) just every time i have gone there it has been...well...lacking. Sometime I will post my horror dealership brake job.

How many miles on the new tires?
How many times have you rotated them?

If you feel a vibration in the steering wheel, check the front tires.
If you feel it in your butt, check the rear tires.

If the tires have any miles on them they may have begun to cup and that will cause a vibration like you mention.
Run your hand from the front to the rear of the tire. Do you feel small ridges that catch your skin? If so, the tires are cupping. If not, then it's probably something else.

Cupping can be caused be several things.

Improper balance.
Improper alignment.
Shocks and/or struts worn out.
Bad tire...not that common.
Bent or warped wheel. Also not that common.

Curious. At the time before it started shaking did you hit the bottom hard? Cause if you did you might of bent the pitman arm that will throw it out of Alignment. Did that with my ZR2 and it started shaking to. Could check all your bushings to.

KJ's don't have a pitman arm,the tierod ends(inner and outers) are directly connected to the rack and pinion steering.

I do not recall ever hitting anything hard then feeling the shaking. I remember getting the new rubber and it starting maybe...a few weeks after that on the highway. This weekend I am planning on taking it to the shop and having the wheels balanced again.

Well I took my jeep into get the tires balanced and they were all off and from what the guy said a fair amount too. I did have weights still on all the tires but they suspect that they did not do it properly the first time. We drove around 50 miles today and it was amazingly smooth. Seems all is well now.

Thank you.
