Tire Help

This is my second Post and i am still curious as to which tire i should purchase. i am on a lil bit of a buget and i have no lift. just a stock 2003 liberty with 235/70/16 tires on them.

i like the tread pattern for the General Grabbers AT2's, however i havent really seen them on a jeep with no lift.

does anyone have a suggestion or a picture of a liberty with those tires?

also could i maybe fit those same tires at 245/75/16? or any tire that size rather?

Any other sugestions of tires that are good for on road off road; that can fit in my budget?

Grabbers will loook good on either stock or lifted libby.
You will have way too much rubbing with 245/75/16s without a lift, I would stick with stock tire size.
Grabbers are probably the best agressivnes/price combination. They are treaded similar to BFGoodrich T/A I think.
You could always get retreaded tires that are a lot cheaper and I heard they do pretty good.

I'm upgrading my stock Badyears to Grabbers AT2 on Wednesday (I can't stand slipping even on dry pavement anymore with those things!) and I also have a stock '03 KJ.. I'm going with 245/70s though because after talking to a few folks I hear that there is little to no rubbing (more specifically, only a little at full lock) with those while 245s (oops I mean 75s) are out of the question without a lift.. In addition, I'm getting Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers for a wider aggressive stance. These will probably eliminate any minor rubbing I might have had without them. Anyway I hope this helps!

Btw I'll be posting an update w/pics after the install

Get those tires if you like them (and they have favorable reviews) but get them in the stock size. I know you want a bigger looking tire, but personally, the stock size is big enough. There's no rubbing.

Kumhos, Road Venture KL78, AT in a 245/70R16. Had them on all my XJ's and on the wifes KJ and on mine as soon as the wallet re-inflates more.

Agressive tread, good tread wear, not too noisy, very good gas millage, GREAT handeling!!!!!

I thought leaning them on the fence would reduce the wear , Actually I've had them on for about 3 months and they have been gr8 in mild off road conditions and on wet and icy roads.

those wold fit on my 03 liberty? i am runnin 235/70/16 stock

Yes, 245/70/16's will fit fine on your stock KJ so will 235/75/16's. The 245's are alittle bit wider then the 235's but the 235's are alittle taller then the 245's. So it really comes down to what you want. If you encounter alot of snowy/ice covered roads then maybe the narrower 235/75/16's would be the way to go. Or if you want a wider stance by about half an inch then go with the 245/70/16's. Check out the goodyear wrangler silent armor, Ive had them for over a year and these are a Excellent tire!!Look good too.

They are inded a very good tire and you should have a good experience with them, but other than having the good year name, why spend upwards of 180.00 pre tire if you do not need to. Kumho's have given me 100,000 of miles withe NO problems over the years and for 95.00 per on Tire rack.com and 117.00 locally with mounting and balance.

I have much better places to spend money on the KJ.

All depends what you are looking for! To each there own,right! I needed a good siped tire that is excellent on poor(snow/ice) road conditions and also wanted a tire that looked good,performed off road and wore well.This is the tire that fit the criteria for me. Just suggesting for others to consider looking at it thats all. I wish i had got them for $ 180.00ea! try 4 for $830.00 and that's a buy 3 get the fourth free deal here in canada!!

Well thanks everyone for all opf you needed help. i do appriciate them all. another quick question, would 235/75/16 fit? the reason why i ask is because i dotn have a lift and if i dont want to cause seious damage to my wheel well if i every did go serious off roading with a stock kj.

Yes the 235/75/16 will fit your stock KJ! I had them on my stock KJ for 5 months before i put on a lift an dnow i need something bigger! You may get slight rub at Full lock when steering but i doubt it. And how often do you ever steer so hard that the power steering makes that winning noise anyway?(never unless off road). I strongly recommend the 235/75/16's because they fit on your stock KJ and when you do decide to get a lift they still look good!

When I put 235/75/16 into tire rack.com and select all-terrain and off-road, only 3 tires come up. Bridgestone Duelers, Dunlop Rovers, and Firestone Destinations. I wanted that size but something different. I guess I'll have to get 245/70.

The Nokian Vatiiva come in 235/75/16, and they are supposed top be great in snow and rain. I plan on getting a pair next month (budgeting). My local Discount Tire said they will install them for 110.00 each. I can't wait! I really wanted the extra clearance of the 235/75, but there aren't too many options. I was looking at Destination A/Ts, but I like the aggressive pattern on the Vatiiva.

Darby runs them in Hercules - but you have to find a Hercules dealer - it's a smaller company

the Terra Tracs are identical to the American Prospector AT's and very similar to a tire Cooper makes for Tire Kingdom called the Stampede AT/S. you'd be similarly happy and similarly priced with Cooper Discoverer ATR's

I bought the Nokian Vatiiva in 235/75/16 and they are great! No rubbing at all. They beat the cr!@ out of the stock tires. Now I don't have to put it in full time 4wd when it rains.
