One thing they do on the Nissan Patrols is to make a piece of aluminum and place that in the EGR internal intake. Effectively blocking the path of the exhaust gas into the EGR valve. You make a piece of metal and sandwich it on the EGR valve body, closing the EGR valve to exhaust gasses. Easy peasy. (if you know how to cut metal :D)

Anybody thry this one? Makes sense to me. What makes the EGR throw a code?

I believe the early efforts to find a way to seal off the EGR hit a dead end due to the design of the thing and the location. You'd basically have to pull the entire engine out of the Jeep to get access to it. I'd expect it would also throw a code of some sort when the electronics tried to activate it but could not.

SEGR is a much easier fix. Simply fools the electronics into running the EGR closed all the time, with no codes.

I interpreted Mr. Mopar's comments to be about the right hand drive with the older EGR, not the 2005-2006 US production CRD's.

Excuse my french: http://www.patrol-gr.net/trucs42.php

This is basically what I tried to explain - only possible on the vacuum operated EGR valve. I have not tried anything like that yet - but I might be able to find out something if I could get a schematic of the EGR valve on the CRD. Either that or getting a friend of mine to help me pull it apart and see where we can block the sucker. He can fabricate some sheet steel which will go straight in and block the EGR input.

Another easy thing to try is just disable the little vacuum modulator (from pic#3). I would take a close look at it and see if I somehow can prevent it from opening the vacuum to the EGR valve. Might be easiest to just remove the power to the magnetic valve it operates. That is if the thing is normally closed, if not normally closed I would pull battery power to the thing and keep it on always. Depending on the power usage of the beast, obviously, this could work.

VW's throw a CEL when you block the EGR gas. On them the ECM is looking for a drop in flow from the MAF when the EGR is open

Sounds reasonable. Lucky for me I don't have a MAF, I only have the MAP sensor :D

I have examined my airbox and hose going to the turbo, there is no apparant sensor attached to it ...
