Hello,

With the new CRD in the garage, I need to find a trailer hitch and wiring. Are all 2002-2007 Jeep Liberty's the same on the hitch? I'm wandering if I can find an OEM on a wrecked gas burner and put it on the CRD? How about the wiring? Could I use some of it? Thanks for any help. I realize I could buy new, but my funds are very tight and I'm trying to look at the total cost.

Try these two links, these wiring includes conversion box for turn signal and brake lights. Depends if you need 4 or 7 wire hook up for just lights or lights and electric brakes

I am pretty sure that all Liberty's through 2007 use the same hitch. I am not so sure that is true of the wiring and some were pre-wired, some were not. Do you have the EVIC?

I got all my stuff from the dealer and it was plug and play. Since I do not have the EVIC/overhead console, I had to get the extra wire harness to supply power to the trailer turn signal relay. That was a witch to put it. The actually wire harness was a piece of cake. After being a car stereo installer for more than 15 years, I find doing it correctly with the correct parts the first time is the best way. You get what you pay for. Here they offer a 7 pin and 13 pin setup and it worked perfectly with my US spec KJ.

Also does anyone know where I can get a 12N to 7pin flat adapter from? I know Land Rover offers a 12N to 4 pin but thats all I could find.

FYI - Pay careful attention to the receiver's load rating. I saw several that I thought were a good buy until I noticed that they were 5K lbs only using a weight distributing hitch. I got a Draw Tite that's 5K lbs w/o wt distributing and 7500lbs w/ weight distributing. Although I'll never haul that much, I wanted to make sure I had the heaviest duty receiver possible. All in all, it was only a $30 difference between the two receivers.
