Finally after 3 months of me battling Chrysler I won lemon law on my Dodge Ram without having to go to court. They agreed to replace the vehicle with anything in the Chrysler family of equal or less value. I going to be getting into my new kk hopefully by next month. I'm going to get a black liberty sport 4x4 with the popular equipment package, skid plates, tow group, maybe select-trac, and maybe the skyslider. I can't wait to get out of this thing. I never know if it's going to overheat. The best part is since i'm going from a $33,000 to a $24,000 vehicle my payments are gonna drop like crazy. Probably under $250 a month since i already got like over 15grand paid off already. Mods will probably include a 4inch lift and some big bridgestone dueler revo's not to long after i get it. Nothing too crazy seeing as how thats what I got my atv for. Just bought a trailer too since i'm going to be losing the bed. I'm probably going to miss the power of the hemi at first but when the gas bill shrinks i'll be ok lol. I'll post up pics when I get it.

Congrats man! Sorry about your problems with the Ram, but at least they're making it right. Enjoy the new ride!

Sorry to hear about the Ram problems but it sounds like your going to end up better off. Have fun with the new KK!

congrats on the new jeep. Those specs match mine exactly except mine is green and I don't have the sky slider, but it is an awesome vehicle. Enjoy!

thanks guys. i actually just got off the phone with the people that handle the exchange process. They told me i had to get a vehicle of the same value or $500 less than my original msrp. So my two choices are either get a completely loaded liberty 4x4 limited for 32k or fight to get my money back and get the sport for 24k. I'm gonna crunch numbers all weekend to see. Because he said that if i leave chrysler finacial i'm gonna get charged a $6,500 usage fee but if i stay they can most likely waive it or cut it in half.

What about a fully loaded Liberty Renegade, does that fit into the price range?

they don't make the new kk in a renegade edtion yet. i'm most likely going to get the loaded kk because if i leave and get the $6,500 deducted from what i've paid off and get a sport the payments are going to be the same on a sport, where as if i leave the money there and get into a limited i get to keep the money and my payment doesn't change. i'm fine with my monthly payment now, i just can't wait to get rid of my coolant/gas guzzler.

yea i think it looks really nice in black. it's gonna suck when i start to get scratches everywhere from going off road, but w/e. Also since i'm getting the limited i'm gonna get rid of the 18's once i get the lift, i probably just get some 16 or 17inch black steel wheels and then throw a trail rated badge on it. I never had a kj to start with i joined the forum to get an idea of what other people thought of their kk.

I concur, I was on the lot yesterday while the KJ was having the blower motor recall done. I had to stop and stare at a black one and all of its pretty reflective, shiny chips in the deep lustrous paint. mmmmmm.

so typical...even handing you a lemon and agreeing to exchange, they still want their full payment plan that they got you into....is there nothing right in the dealership world?? Amazing...they won't let you exchange for a car that 10K less....greedy bastids....they still get their money in the end. Most likely they will drive your Ram over to another lot and pawn it off on some other customer with a few tweaks to fix your old problem.

Usage fee....these guys are thieves. So what fees can you charge them for sticking you with a big ol steaming pile of truck the first time?? All the hassles you went through, probably multiple trips to the dealer....and still they bob and weave and tack on charges....I hate big business!!!

Congrats at least on getting rid of the lemon...have fun with the new fully loaded KK...it should rock.

I just found my answer here....

http://www.carlemon.com/lemon/IN_LemonGuide.html

Quote:
What Happens to All those Lemons
Have you ever wondered what happens to "lemons" after manufacturers take them back? Many of them are repaired and then returned to dealers to sell to other customers.

The manufacturer is required to obtain a new title for the vehicle with the stamp or brand "Manufacturer Buyback Disclosure on File". This stamp or brand should remain on the title for as long as the vehicle exists. The first time a dealer sells a vehicle that was returned to a manufacturer under the Lemon Law, the dealer must notify the consumer in writing, at the time of the sale, that the vehicle had been a "lemon". The consumer must also be provided with a manufacturer's warranty of at least twelve (12) months or 12,000 miles.

The Lemon Law does not allow the Attorney General to represent individual consumers in seeking a refund or replacement vehicle. However, a manufacturer or dealer who violates the buyback disclosure provisions faces stiff penalties which the Attorney General is authorized to enforce.

Knowing about and understanding the "Lemon Law" can provide you with the protection you may need.

From what I read of the original post, it looks like he is settling with Chrysler out of court. That's no doubt why they are trying to wrangle extra fees, etc out of the poor guy. Had it gone to court, it may have been a totally different story, depending on the state's lemon laws. Each state has their own laws regarding lemon vehicles.

Sometimes they get exported to Canada for unsuspecting consumers north of the border. Here there are no lemon laws or disclosure laws requiring dealers to tell a customer that a vehicle was written off in the U.S., so dealers will often buy these at auction in the States and import them into Canada. Thanks to a big expose new legislation might be coming but for now it's buyer beware on these vehicles.

Well around 12k miles I was checking all the fluids in my truck before i left for orlando and noticed that the coolant tank was empty. So i went to the auto parts, topped it off and left for orlando. When i got back i checked it again and the coolant disappeared again. There was no leak or and smoke so i knew it wasn't leaking and my engine held perfect pressure. So i took it to the dealer 3 times and all the times they kept doing the same pressure test and couldn't come up with a problem. So after i appllied for lemon law, they sent down an engineer from detriot for the 4th and final repair attempt required by florida lemon law. He couldn't figure it out either. I told them that i noticed when i changed my oil last that is has a milky color came out with the oil as well. So it was probably being consumed through the heads somewhere. Who knows? I don't care i'm getting a new car out of it. Oh and since that happened i now have 28k miles on it and it just turned a year old.

Even though i did settle it out of court my cousin ,who is a consumer law lawyer, guided my through the whole process and dealt with them with me on speaker phone whenever i had any doubts. He told me that usually most people end up paying the full usage fee and really get ripped a new one lol. So i'm happy the way it turned out. My gf's aunt got lemon law on her lexus like 4 years ago and actually lost 7k from what she had paid off going to court. With me they are going to possibly eliminate it or reduce it to three thousand. And they actually have to pay my cousin like 5k now for being my advisor lol.

i actually just read in the florida lemon law book how they calculate the usage fee. They formula goes as follow:

Miles X MSRP / 120,000 = usage fee

24,000 X $31,180 / 120,000 = $6,236

But they are gonna reduce it 50% so it comes out to $3,118

So i think i made out good.

I have the skyslider and I've gone through 3 different types of car washes and haven't had a leak yet. If it does then it's under factory warranty so no biggie...I got the 7yr/100K ext. warranty to cover the skyslider and electrical components to the MyGIG.
