Nip and tug for Compass and Patriot and ........ How long will it be before the KK get's it's first face lift.

Looks like the current line up is not exactly winning design awards/sales, this is a problem especially as Jeep want's to expand in Europe.

All they have to do is stop using such cheap materials on the insides and people would probably look at the new models.

....and the Patriot. I don't know how or why DC even produced these. Maybe with the new merger, they might produce some of the GOOD concepts. Like the Renegade, Gladiator, or the JT.

My guess is that 3-4 dollar fuel had something to do with the compass and pat. After seeing the pat in person, it is on my "maybe list" for next time.

That what the Focus, Hondas, Toyotas, etc... are for! No need to get Jeep involved. Next thing you know the Wrangler, GC, and Commanders are being replaced with small 4-cyl / AWD POS....sorry, rant over. :x

The simple fact of the matter is that CAFE plays into that in a big way.

Why do you think Jeep has jumped on the "flex-fuel bandwagon"? Having ethanol vehicles on the road boost your CAFE rating to something that gets you by.

Not that I am lookingto buy either one but I like the Patriot better than the NEW IMPROVED LIBERTY!

And yes it comes down to politics, they need vehicles that will get them some better CAFE numbers, plus if people but something with a Jeep name on it isnt that good? :? :? They may someday buy another and another and even may buy a Wrangler due to their good experiences with Jeep.

Ditto.....................and all of us better hope they sell a lot of Compass and Patriot models so they don't go belly-up. They needed something with the Jeep name on it to get better gas mileage to balance CAFE and still be able to make Wrangler and other Jeeps. Point is that if everyone goes to other brands for fuel efficient vehicles Jeep will be a fading memory.

Lets face it, most people (even Jeep owners) don't know what a Jeep is. Most people don't take them off-road. Most people still call them cars. Most people just don't understand. And they need to sell Jeeps to those people too because those people are in the majority................

Yeah, they need some vehicles with better MPG #'s to bring the Corporate average fuel economy up. The JK is a hit but it isn't helping that number any.

The guy who made the Neon version 2.0 a small SUV-lette, even if they called it a Caliber instead of a Neon, wasn't very far-sighted. GM buys out Daewoo and makes the Aveo, Honda brings in the Fit, Toyota the Yaris, and DC turned their small car into a tall wagon. Jeesh.

I dislike the looks of the Compass. But that is preference. The Patriot seems to be right-sized for the market in cute-utes or soft-roaders. I just don't forget that they are a FWD economy car underneath. Of course, their competition ( CRV, RAV4, et al...) are, as well.

Now that the Smart did not come along with Cerebus' purchase, Chryco needs a fuel-sipper badly.

I have NO problem with the idea or concept of having models like the Compass and Patriot. I just dislike the styling (very much) and some engineering choices. Actually, the Patriot isn't bad. I'm trying to get my mother to buy one. For what it is, it's ok. If you have to make a couple models with high efficiency to keep the brand alive, so be it. But make them more appealing, for goodness sake.

cheap interiors and lousy mpg and expensive spares are certainly damaging chryslers chance of establishing themselves in the European market .And over here we pay double for our kj's than US, so cheap easily scratched interiors on a supposedley luxury motor that costs a premium aren't gonna impress the masses.

it is getting easier and easier to picture a grand cherokee hybrid in the future...
i know a diesel is now available, but with such a choke hold on emission requirements in america, i can see the diesel being too expensive to make/buy in the future.

they wouldn't need the Compass/Patriot if they'd bring the CRD KK stateside.

I'd take one...a Renegade CRD, and bring back the Patriot Blue:D
