Franky Question

If I remember right from other posts after installing the Franky the KJ still won't be level. Is that right? What will I need to level it out? It's ordered but I STILL don't know when I'll get it.

I believe most sit level now, Mine is one of the older versions, and the back was a little lower, all you will need is either a set of top factory spring isolator pads to place above the rear springs, just stack them, put them on, and put the spring in, they will not come out when flexed either, they fit rather tight on the jounce bumpstop post. But like I said, I think with the newer OME springs it sets level once the front settles.

The new Frankenlift usually sits pretty level once it has settled. Mine started out about 2" higher though.

All KJ's are a little bit unique, so you might not end up level. What you can do is pick up 2 sets of isolators. Replace your old isolators which may be starting to dry rot with the first set, and let the front settle. Mine were very dry rotted after more than 6 years. Once it settles, decide if you want to add the extra set or if you like the way it sits.

What wheels and tires are you going with?

To level out the KJ all you need to do is a clevis lift up front or add some isolator pads to the rear depending on how she sits.

KY Liberty: Right now I'm thinking of using retreads called, I think, Green Diamonds, dedicated to off road use. I would like to stay with the factory 17" rims also. I can get tires for on road use at a pretty good price by going to the Jacksonville Naval Base. Sort of off topic but::: I have removed all of the front plastic wheel well liners and don't have a problem doing the rears. Considering that, what would be the tallest tires I could go with? That is before and after 4.10's are installed.

265/75/16 (32's) would be the largest, depending on backspacing you may have rubbing at the fender lip in the rear at stuff, and watch the washer bottle in front. My 32's snapped the front of the pump assembly off while on the trail. You can also get A/T's and muddders at the NEX, good price if they are on sale. A couple of months back they had Revo's for 145 in that size.

I already moved the washer bottle so that won't be a problem. I guess I'll have to check out the tires better at the NAS. The ones I'm running now came from there. I got 5 tires for less than 4 would have cost here in Saint Augustine. Now, if they only sold good steel bumpers! :lol:

From what Ive seen, the Rusyts lift will lift the rear more than the front.

The franken lift actually makes the front sit higher from the Jeeps and Pics Ive seen. Some add extra isolators to the rear to level it up.

My frankenlift when first installed was a good inch or two higher in the front than the rear. Its been roughly a month and the front has settled down to about even with the back though still a bit higher. I've thought about adding a rear isolator, just gotta make sure it doesn't bump the rear up higher than the front!
