Are the silver stars really any better than stock? Is there anything better that will just "plug and play"?

Terry

I don't know the answer to your question, but I just saw an ad on tv for a new silverstar bulb the other day. I should have been paying more attention, as it seems there is a new one out. Maby it is better. Need to watch for the commercial again.

just a heads up

i put silverstars in the fogs and head lights, it is a plug and play, not much brighter than stock, but a bit whiter.

I have the Silverstar Ultras and like them. The Ultra just signifies they will last longer than the original Silverstars. I think they definitly make a difference in the Headlight.

I've tried them and was really dissapointed with the light vs. price vs. expectations

I'll save my money and buy the regular bulbs

I was hoping that there was something out there that was noticeably better than stock. HID is expensive and a hassle.

i have hella headlights in my headlights, and sylvania silverstar ultras in all 4 of my rooflights. i definitely noticed a difference, nice whiter light on the road, ESPECIALLY with the rooflights, those made the most noticeable difference between stock bulbs

PIAA extreme white bulbs make a difference. I've got them in the headlights and in the fogs now.

I have the Silver Stars. When I first installed them I only noticed how much whiter the light was. Just driving around town its not a huge difference. On the backroads there is a big difference over stock. They aren't HID's but they are Much better than stock.

Thanks guys! I have always liked being able to see good at night. Maybe it's because of all the deer I have hit or almost hit driving around in NW Pennsylvania. That isn't a real problem here in Florida. But, I still want to be able to see far at night.

I have the Hella Xenon bulbs in my headlights. They seem to be brighter and whiter. I don't use my hi-beams much anymore. I'd like to get them for my fogs.

These bulbs were $50, more expensive than Silverstars, but better also I think.

I have the silverstar ultras. They are pretty nice. Still doesn't meet my expectations. Only HID can meet my expectations :(

I have the silver stars as well. I can not believe some people are saying they didn't make much diference. They mad a HUGE difference for me! The light is now a crystal clear white light as opposed to the yellowish tint of the stock and they are WAY brighter. Now I get people flashing me a lot more because they think I have my brights on, then I flash the brights quick and they quickly understand and turn theirs down. Well worth the extra cost over stock replacement bulbs!

Upon my purchase of my KJ I installed PIAA's and then after a year last month tweaked an trimmed Silver Stars 9005 into fog location. I am extremely pleased I now have Fogs that functionn as Head lights and Head lights that are vastly superior to what one would expect. So do what you may and enjoy your Jeep everyday.    8)

I had bought the Silverstar's well over a year ago and they only lasted me a couple of months. They both burned out within a week of each other! After them, I switched back to my stock bulbs, which luckily I had saved. Honestly, I was pretty disappointed with the original Silverstar's because they claimed (IMHO) to be some kind of "miracle-bulb" that would outlast the stock bulbs and be brighter. I have had the same stock bulbs in since I bought the SS's and put them back in when the SS's went so it's been 3.5 years and the stock bulbs are still glowing. The SS's seemed to have a whiter light, which looks cool, but also made it harder for me to drive in the snow (the whiter light reflected off the snow much more than the stock bulbs did). I don't think I'll be going back to the SS's, even though I've been seeing ad's for some kind of new and improved kind of SS. I think they were called SS Ultra or something? Anyway, to sum up my experience, I've had good luck with the original stock bulbs and I had bad luck with the Sylvania SS's. Not trying to scare anybody, just stating my experience. Peace
