I'm going to get the OME 2" lift for my CRD. I'll probably go with the HD springs on all four corners but I would like feedback on weather or not the HD springs will be to firm for on road driving since the vehicle is stock( no winch, steel bumpers, hi-lift jack). My main goal is to improve ride quality and handleing. I want a balanced suspension. I do tow but I may airbag the rear if need be.

They have a spring which is just for the CRD now, call Heather at AllJs and she will help you out.

I talked to them and they recommended the HD springs but they don't drive them except in and out of the garage. They said they have sold around 500 HD kits and no complaints. I still want opinions based on driving experience.

The OME HD's in the front of my Frankenlift on my 3.7 with a brushguard settled about 2" and softened up considerably over the first 2 months. It's level now and handles great. If you're wanting 2" of lift, you might consider getting the OME CRD springs as you may be a little too heavy in front for the HD's once they're broken in.

Well if this helps any, may not but, I have the OME Heavy Dutys with the ARB bumper, skids etc. on a gasser. Out on the open highway it is smooth, no rough ride at all, in town you do know its a bit more stiff than stock but not too the point of throwing you out of the seat or anything, just a nice firm ride! So if you are not going to have a steel bumper of any kind then you maybe OK. How much more does the CRD weigh over the Gas? Would it be about the same as with the stuff I have hanging on mine? Darby has Heavy Dutys I think check with him as well.

Thanks, thats info I need. Thats the next question, does a CRD weigh the same as a gasser with all the fixins? I wasn't aware that there are different springs for the CRD. I thought the HD were for the CRD. I did a 6" lift on my Geo Tracker and the rear springs were way to stiff. I had to make a 1/4" steel bumper for it just to make it managable. I cut all the suspension out and am in the process of SAS.

OME does make certain springs for the CRD. Im not to sure why All J's told you that you need OME HD springs as they are usually on top of things like that.

Maybe you just need the CRD OME springs with the Franken lift?

CRD motor is 200 lbs. heavier from what I've heard . Use the springs made for the CRD, not the H.D. for a gasser. H.D's. will work for the rear.
You could also check in the CRD Section for more info.

The stock CRD springs are 410 lbs/in
The OME gassers HD's are 400 lbs/in
The OME CRD springs are 500 lbs/in

so either keep the stock springs and put in Daystar type spacers - or get the OME CRD springs - the gassers HD's won't give you full lift and will sag if you start adding Bumpers.

(other option would be OzLTD's custom King springs at 465 lbs/in - but shipping from Oz is as much as the springs)

Gosh, 500 lb spring rate is insane! I bet that would hold up a bumper and a half!
