ok so i was wanting to get some OME springs for the front of my 3.7L and was wondering if i would lose height from the rusty front springs. and also should i get the HDs or the Mediums? or maybe get the mediums and the .75" poly spacer form Rustys? and if i do that can i use the stock top strut plate? also are the mediums any diff spring rate than the Rustys i have now?? if not then i guess i wouldnt be gaining anything. im afraid that with all the extra weight form my skids and sliders im going to lose height thats the reason to get the OMEs. i guess i could wait and save for the front frankie but i could get the OME springs next month and it would take me a min to get that frankie, and i wheel almost every weekend so i dont have time to waste really. also the reason im hoping to make the mediums work is they are only $100 a pair at Rustys and the dont have the HDs listed for the front but do for the rear?? maybe they have both i havent called to ask. if not and the HDs will be that much better ill get them from AllJ's and spend the extra cash

you might lose a little but you shouldnt lose much, when I did mine I gained 3" w/ the help of 1 rear upper iso and 3 conduit nuts, I would get the HDs, stronger, and will not sag much over time and gives you the option to add a bumper, you will not be able to compress OME coils enough to get the .75" poly spacer in, the strut plate it an OTT spacer and supposely will mess up your struts (I say supposely b/c I have never tired just what Im told) but If you do a couple conduit nuts it will give you a little more, I strongly reccomend OME HDs that what I have and I absolutly love them!

I have the stock upper plates , OME heavy Duty Springs, Rancho struts and a small clevis, from middle of the wheel to the lower part of the fender its 22 inches so that will give a measuring point. Also mine has over 45,000 miles and a ARB bumper the whole time.
Medium OMEs are 375 lb compared to Rustys 310 lb. HDs are 400 Lb by the way. The thing is you can build a spring to give you 9 inches of lift but hold up only 1000 lbs, you dont look at the lenghth of a spring but what load it will handle. Rustys may give you more lift but will not handle the load for a long time, proven fact

OMEs will handle a lot more weight than Rustys will, with you adding skids etc and wheeling every weekend it will sag before too long. Best thing is what I say all the time give AllJs a call tell themwhat you want and they can help you with any parts. They will sell you most anything you need to do the lift you want to do.

Simon said that

if you have the rails and skids, but no ARB you should be pretty darn good with that MDs and spacer. the daystar top plate "recenters" the assembly due to the lift. I think Darby Walters explained it once, hopefully he will chime in. Without the daystar, i'm not sure you will be able to compress the springs enough to get the stock plate on.

now if you can't find the top plate, then you can spend the extra money for the HDs, which will take more weight, sag less possibly, and you don't have to spend the extra $$ on the spacers and strut plate.

well the way i was thinking about it is that if the rusty's springs were 2.5" taller and the OMEs were 2" taller there should be enough space to put just a .75 spacer in there. i know they are a little more stiff but they are shorter too. i also plan to have someone compress these for me. pluss the.75" spacer is only 20 bucks so if it doesnt work ill just chuck it or give it to someone wanting a small amount of lift. doing it that way i figured i could have the best of both worlds. keep the same height as my Rustys and not sag with the OMEs.

another thing i was thinking might work is to use Rancho Quick lift frunt struts with the OME springs. has anyone heard anything about these and could i use them with the OME springs?? how do these work and how do they give u more lift? is the height adjustable? here is a link to let u know what im talking about.
http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch ... 4294903836
also are the Rancho 17505 front stuts any longer than the stok struts?? i have the 17004s in the rear and love them

Rustys and OMEs are about the same lenghth ITS THE difference between the 310 lb Rustys and say 400 lb. for the OME HDs , its what they hold up weight wise not the overall lenghth.

The Rancho Quick lift still uses the stock springs, and is 140 bucks each, doesnt say how much lift but??? 280 buys you new springs and struts

thats true.. the thing that got me so confused is that ive always heard the OMEs were only 2" taller and the Rusty's were 2.5" taller. i know mine will sag soon and i do have plans to at least get a winch if not a bumper too. so i figured i would upgrade to the OMEs now. i just really dont want to lose any of my lift when i do it now. if they are the same length though i have nothing to worry about.. also i can see where if the spring rate is higher then they dont have to be longer since they wont drop more when the weight of the vehicle is on them. im i right by saying that then?

As far as the 2 inch -vs- 2.5 it doesnt really wash the way I look at it, OME springs are on the conservative side I think, but yes you are correct about spring rate etc. Check out ARB/OME website and it tells how they make thrir springs etc, kind of interesting.

IF...you are planning a winch and or bumper then by all means step up to the HDs now and be done

thanks tom for the advice and info. as far as the OME springs go i guess ill stick w/ what ive got if i will indeed lose some hight now. when i sag/ get a winch i will then get them. the fact that it might be a while till i get the winch or bumper means i have time to do it if i need it. plus i might actually go with Als 4" lift by then anyways.

Here is what I know from experience, I just changed my srpings from Rustys to OME HD this weekend and it sits higher on the front now. I love it!

I would think at this point we should be getting a commission not just some stickers
I dont even need the money just keep a tab rolling and when I get to the cost of a bumper for the KJ I will cash in

Hey now that would work for sure!! Lets see everytime we mention ARB or OME 10 points and each time someone buys 100 points, it would work ( on my point system each point is a dollar!)
