I know this has been a topic before, but I'm not having much luck with the archives... has anyone ever successfully upgraded the stock calipers and rotors? For boat towing, I'd like a little extra stoppage.

The Chrysler Rep had the dealer fix my rear brakes at 16K+ They are now quite for the first time since I bought the car.
Will see how long this last.
The Transmission was also fixed and it seems to be shifting OK now. Let you all know how it turns out.

I'm suprised to see this thread as we are going thru a brake problem with our libby. It started making a noise a few days ago and when it was in for a warrenty replacement of the FCV, we had them look at the brakes. They said the pads were worn out. I took it home and got new pads and started to replace them. The right rear was metal to metal and the piston won't move. I figured it was a seized caliper piston and was probably that way since new. We took it back in and they are replacing the caliper under warrenty but not the rotor or pads. They should, but it's not worth making a stink about. I'll save the stink making for a more serious issue. This little incident has let me know what kind of service department we have and we won't be darkening their door again once the warrenty is up. BTW we've taken the libby in twice and no brake yet. Diagnose problem, order part, wrong part, re-order part, etc, etc. No offer to help with cost since we have wasted a go bite of time in at the dealer.

Luckily, calipers, pads, and rotors are fairly cheap to fix. I put on new rotors and pads after mine froze up and ate into the rotors.

The problem with mine was a bone dry slide pin and clips the pads slide in. I packed the slide pin boot with high temp grease, cleaned and sanded the clip surfaces then lighty greased them. So far, I've had no issues.

If I do, I'll end up putting on some other kind of caliper and being done with it.

Mine are no groaning too when I first back up in the mornings... oh well, I need to do the heater blower recall anyway.

The CRD that got the upgraded brakes in that article had the entire axle swapped for a Dana... I'd like to do something less drastic.

Well The brake fix lasted about 5 days and they started to groan again. It looks as if I will have to do the job myself if I want it to be
right. When the weather gets better here in Missouri I do the fix myself. Have a nice day out there everyone.
