Anyone running the Toyo Open Country M/T 265/75R16? I am very unhappy w/ the stock tires and I love my Toyos on my Ram, but was wondering if the 265/75R16 will fit without any mods on a 2006 CRD.
Thanks

it is possible to fit with lots of mods
i.e. at least 2 1/2" lift and probably ripping out the fenderwell liners, bending the pinch weld
and some good bumpstops.
That said - there are several folks who have done it (well not Toyo -but 265/75/16)

You can get 245/75/16 to fit with only minor rubbing on plastic(which can be bent out of the way).

the 265/75 is almost an inch taller and an inch wider, it would take some work to make it clear.

I don't think Toyo has them - but a couple of folks are running 235/85/16 - about the same diameter as 265/75/16 - but an inch narrower - allows a bit more clearance.

Taller tire so you will probably feel the need to regear even more.

I run 235/85/16 and I still have the stock 3.73 gears. It's not a big deal with the CRD. I have to turn off OD on long steep grades but that's about it.

You'll need to get the lift kit first, in order to fit the taller tires. Otherwise, you'll be limited to a 245/70/16 without a lift kit.

So I can run 245/70/16 on a otherwise stock CRD?

245/70/16 is good enough for her, is there an M/T that anyone can recommend?

Thanks

Does she really need a M/T, or want to put up with the noise level of a Mud Tire :?: Yes, they get very noisey and they are not a good choice for a steet tire on a daily driver. An A/T would probably be a wiser choice for her with a lot less noise to have to contend with.

everyone has they're own preference for tires.. but for an A/T tires my BFG KO's have been nothing but perfect.. they work great in every condition i've tested them in.. wet roads, dry roads, ice, snow, mud, rocks, sand... plus they look cool :)

Most likely she would not need M/T's but I don't know how well A/T's perform.
I was thinking of BFG A/T but don't know anything about them. I personally have 35' Toyo M/T's and love 'em, haven't seen a better tire on and off the road. But then I haven't had different tire yet.
Maybe you are right and an A/T would be good and I have to use her CRD a bit less....... LOL.
I would like to have an A/T that you can air down quiet a bit.
I am looking at:

Toyo M-55
Toyo A/T
BFG A/T

All the tire I hear there are good?!

ps.
that's why I like the Toyo's

i run 265/75/16 maxxis tires on my libby and i had to remove the front part of my inner fender well and i also had alot of rubbing on sway bay and pinch weld. i try hammering my pinch weld with no luck i still rubbed so i ground it down and welded a peice of aluminum on there, and im running a 3" lift kit. i have no issue with get up and go i can still smoke the tires up and accelerate pretty well and stopping distance was increased by 20feet
(add in weight of new rims)
