Hello members,

I just had my brake pads, brake rotors and calipers replaced. The problem is..the brakes feel looser. I have to put more pressure on the brake to have the car stop. Is there any logical reason for this?

Please let me know your suggestions...........!!

Thanks !
Peter Casey.

Did they bleed your brakes?

Just a small amount of air in the lines will make you stand on the brakes to get stopped.....

Welcome to L.O.S.T.!! :D

Yup, like others have said, probably air in the brake lines. Take it back and have them fix it.

Air would only get in the brake lines if they removed/replaced the calipers...did they turn your rotors? they could be undercut.

I had the same problem after I got my brakes fixed at the delaership, replaced the brakes and resurfaced the rotors.
Same problem, I got used to it. I would love to have my tight brakes, though.

I'd take it straight back to the place that did the work and ask them to fix it. Driving around with poorly performing brakes is unsafe.

I agree with Sleeve, take it back and have them figure it out. It's probably air in the lines.

Thats what I was thinking. The pads need to wear to fit the rotors.

My brakes were never the same after I had to change a rear caliper. Ive bled them many times to make sure all the air is out and it is.

air in the lines will cause them to feel mushy, or like you need to pump them two or three times to stop. pads need to seat in no matter if you are just replacing them, resurfacing the old rotors or installing new ones. Depending on how you drive could take a day or two.

But also the make up of the pads will affect how they feel, used to be when we could still use asbestos wasnt quite as much problem. Doctors say I have enough in my lungs for a set of pads

Right, but everytime I have done my brakes, when I put on new pads - they are always really touchy on the first stop. They are never mushy
