Well yesterday it was about -10 with the wind chill the coldest day this winter here. The two days before it was in the upper 30's maybe even the low 40's and we had some rain.

My question is that yesterday I noticed a strange creeking sound coming from the front and rear suspension going over different inclines, like going over raised railroad tracks, or going up my driveway which is about five feet above the road. It seems that sometimes it comes from the front and other times from the rear. The sound seems to change pitch as the suspension flexes. The sound does not seem to affect the handling or ride.

The only things I can figure it might be is that water got into some of the bushings and flash froze due to the rapid decrease in temp or that the bushings are just so hard right now that it is causing the noise. Does anyone have insight on what may be my problem? Next week it is supposed to warm up so I hope the sound goes away then.

It’s your sway bar bushing.
Here's what I did.

Personally I’ve never heard of any noise coming from the rear suspension when flexing.

JeepJeepster, I've lost count :P

It may just be coming from the front, but I'm not sure it seems to be coming from both front and back. Well thanks for the help.

The rear sway bar doesnt have any bushing so it cannot make any noises.

Temp went up to about 35 today and sound went away, yeah I think a sticky would be good. I have seen a few other posts with the same question, but not until I posted mine. Thanks for the help to all that replied.

how about an official "It sounds like" thread with all common KJ clicks, sqeeks, pops, and other sounds with an explanation of the sound and a solution to mute it?

All of my solutions include "turn up the radio"

My front swaybar bushings aren't making any sound this winter because my radiator is leaking on them:)

I think it should be made into a super pop-up that no pop-up blocker on earth can block. When it pops up, a hot chick voice automatically starts explaining the strange noises through your speakers. :D

Umm, Could we have it pop up anyway then, even if we aren't having any issues?
