I think a retinal scanner would be be the way to go. You sit down in the driver seat and the car automatically scans your eyes, validates your identity, and starts-up. You could have different "driver profiles" that could automatically adjust things like seat position, mirrors, stearing wheel, and maybe even adjust the engine management to meet your driving style.

No, that's Will Smith's car already.

When I worked for King Soopers a division of Kroger (Grocery Store). Our time clocks were set with finger print scanners with a key code number  to punch in you entered you code number and put you finger on the scanner. If you tried to punch in before 2 minutes early it would not allow you to punch in, unless you had a manager come over an override your time punch  :o

A friend of mine has a laptop with that feature on it. She hates it. It doesn't work half of the time and other times it will unlock when her boyfriend scans his finger.

Mythbusters proved that they aren't very secure. Even the high-end ones can be fooled rather easily.

chefdab]Um, Mythbusters already proved that you can duplicate a persons fingerprint for a scanner lock. They did a whole episode on how to beat different security measures. They also showed how to beat a motion sensor. If I recall, their duplicate fingerprint worked on the first or second try too. It was pretty easy.[/qoute]

I dont have much faith in mythbusters. They use old technology a lot of time, and often don't know what they are talking about, especially in the firearms department. A couple of their proven busted myths they came back, revisited because of viewer outrage, and did find it plausible.

Older fingerprint scanners were awful, but the technology is getting a lot better. Especially with the biometric ones where you have to swipe your finger instead of placing it.
