Okeedokee, I'm in the process of purchasing an AutoEnginuity device and I will be buying the Chrysler module that lets me into the BCM. What I'm looking to do is recode the BCM so the EVIC displays the individual tire pressures... But I don't know how to do this. I spent $20 and about 45 minutes with one of the dealer techs using his DRB III unit, and he couldn't figure out how to do it at all. I know people have said it's possible...

Can someone tell me how? Is this like the VW system, where you need to change a specific digit somewhere?

What about turning off that stupid seatbelt chime? If I didn't have the evic, where would I go in the scanner to change the headlight timing or door lock behavior and stuff like that? I'm guessing its probably in that area... But I have no clue. Help!

My EVIC displays individual tire pressures. ???

The seat belt chime can be turned off without an EVIC. I forget the procedure but it's something like turning on the ignition and plugging and unplugging the seatbelt a couple times. A search should bring it up. Door locks and headlight control is in the EVIC.

My Limited didn't come with the evic, I added it. And yes, I added the 05 KJ Evic to my 05. The very first time I powered it up, it displayed the tire pressure screen, and loaded up all four sensors. Then the screen vanished, and hasn't returned since.

My EVIC does not display individual tire pressure but the one on my GC Limited does. I seem to recall that there is a differance in hardware...either the sensors or the pickups. I believe you had to get a differant package that was on the Limited to make this function work.

AE with Enhanced DCJ has all the skajillions of data points over and above the standard OBD2 stuff - listed numerically, alphabetically, and by class - install it, connect it up, and just go thru and see what it has to offer - I don' t get opportunity to use it enuff to offer any more than that.

Not to sound stupid, but I was reading on the AE site, and they mentioned that the advanced DCJ device is USB... Ok, so do I need to buy both the generic OBDII device AND the DCJ item, or just the DCJ part?

Generic OBD2 is standard and you get a cable for that - the optional OBD2 Enhanced software comes with a required enhanced interface module which connects the USB 2.0 port to the DLC - it communicates to the CAN buss, as well as the other two busses

Ok... So I don't need to spend $500 for both, just purchasing the $250 enhanced adapter and I get access to everything?

Thats part of the problem... It doesn't. I just won an auction on Fleabay for the basic OBDII unit from them, and I've sent them an email asking for their opinion. Since the auction was not from a reseller or anyone else, but is from the company directly... I'm hoping that if I don't need the generic unit, they can either sell me the enhanced for the same price, or we both walk away from the auction and I just buy it directly.

The difference in price was only $50 anyway between their online price and the Fleabay auction. I just obviously don't want to buy something that I may not need, if the enhanced adapter comes with the basic functionality built in. Logically, that *should* be how it is set up... But logic doesn't always apply when the separation of a fool and his money is involved. I would prefer to not be that fool.

When you connect direct via OBD2 cable you get only the basic OBD2 stuff - when you connect the Enhanced interface, all the Enhanced parameters are displayed, and it is DCJ specific - the Enhanced stuff for the other marquees require only the optional software to enable the functions with the OBD2 cable.

You can prolly imagine why the SGII has trouble

Ok, that makes sense, as that is how it was with my VW and vag-com. So the enhanced is probably just connecting to different pins in the OBDII plug to speak "Mopar" to the car. But that still doesn't answer the basic question:

Can the enhanced device (since we need an actual device) ALSO speak generic OBDII to the generic OBDII pins at the same time? Do you have one of these that you could try it?

The Enhanced interface has full access to all the normal OBD2 parameters that are oem assigned - it also calls for Enhanced program functions, which you won't see with the standard cable - but, no I don't have access to the KJ, and haven't had for several weeks - and, I've got the Cummins fuel manager head sitting here, burning a hole in my pocket, too...................

See, that's what I suspected all along. But I've gotten a reply back from the company, and they are saying that "I must buy the basic device first, as the license code for the enhanced is keyed to the basic deivce" so they get to make double the money. That pisses me off. There is no reason for that, other than pure greed.

The reason it has access to all the normal parameters is because you buy the basic package\license, and each Enhanced marquee is optional - I bought the DCJ, GM, and Ford options to cover my family's vehicles - the Enhanced option isn't standalone - it just adds the Enhanced functions to the standard apgm

This means that you have the wrong EVIC for your CRD. There are not only differences between years, but differences between BCMs. I know this because I traded EVICs with a guy on KJ Country. Mine displayed individual pressures in my CRD, but when he plugged it into his car, it did not. I forget all the details, but he was very knowledgeable, and together we learned this fact.

The difference is not in the EVIC, it's in the BCM coding. The Evic is a dumb terminal, it can only display what the BCM tells it to, if it is capable of that screen. The fact that the evic loaded up the pressures the first time proved that the evic would display them, but the coding is preventing it from displaying b/c the BCM is still setup that I do not have the "premium" options. There is only one part number for KJs for the Evic. All of the KJs have the same device, and they ALL have the TPMS and the homelink. Also, the KJ evic is set up differently so that the temperature readout works with the KJ temp sensor, which we all know is different from the Grand Cherokee or any other Mopar EVIC.

Ok, I didn't go back and look until now to see that you have a Limited. I assumed since you were adding an EVIC, you had a Sport. Yes, the EVIC is a dumb terminal, but it can only display the information it's set up to receive. For instance, in 05 only Limiteds came with TPMS, and it changed from the previous year to use antennas in each wheel well to receive pressure data. If you have an 05 sport, you can't use an 05 KJ EVIC and get the TPMS to work, because it's expecting data from individual antennas. Instead you have to use an 04 KJ EVIC and 04 wheel sensors, bypassing the antenna system.

And there are more than 1 part number for KJ EVICs, 56010520AD and 56010527AD for example.

Ok, you are correct about the two different part numbers... HOWEVER, one of those numbers is designated as "Export only" and not available at all in the USA.

And yes, I have a Limited, which for some reason came with neither sunroof nor EVIC. I'm not adding the sunroof. I probably will add the heated seat elements however. I really did like them in my Jetta, after I added them to that car.

What I'm hoping is that the BCM data is fairly accessible with the AE device, and was just blocked from the DRB or the tech didn't know how to get to the data. AE is telling me about a complete package for another $100 that will have all the Ford / GM / Mopar parts so I can read anybody's domestic... I don't know if I want to do that tho. I have 2 Fords hybrids, but no GMs... Dangit.

I think you're on the right track. Sounds like you have the right EVIC, just need some work with the DRB.

The time you saw the pressure screen come up, were there realistic pressures displayed, or just dashes? What's the part number of the sensors you're using?
