So since I put the Wrangler 245/75/16 MTR's on my milage went to the crapper. It states to fill to 80 psi. I thought that was a little heavy so i didnt put that much in. Will filling them to correct psi improve milage. It seem's like it would just add more weight and decrease milage?

80 PSI is the MAXIMUM AMOUNT if the tire is on a fully loaded vehicle, the KJs are only about a third of what the max weight is, seems most go with around 35 lb or so in theirs. You can do a simple chaulk test to also come up with the perfect air pressure.

yeah i put 45 in. i guess its the price you pay for big tires. off topic tommudd, but do snorkle's give you better gas milage? or wouldnt that increase horse power therefor increasing gas ussage?

man you can get a thousand answers on snorkles, most say that you will get somewhat better mileage due to more of a forced inlet of air, more of a cleaner air by being higher, cooler also from being higher from the road etc. It would maybe give you some added horsepower but would not be but a few, gas mileage I would think it would help some, but as I have said I have heard good arguments both ways. If I had the bucks I would like to have one not for the water fording but just for the reasons above, plus they add to the way cool factor

i totally agree with you. where are they selling them @? last i heard they were 370.00 bucks. not really to bad but im not sure of the install. i heard that the outlines that they come with dont always line up right. and you could end up with a cut up corner panel.

When I was running MT/R's I ran them at 38psi,just right for wear and my vehicle weight.Now my KJ is a porker at 5500lbs and 38 psi was spot on though they where 265/75's.I now run 42psi in my Trxus MT's and that seems perfect for them.

i run about 40-45 psi in my 245s. they also say max is 80psi. as far as gas mileage goes thats just part of it. tires have hurt my milage more than anything ive done. i plan to get new grears soon so this should help w/ the low end but id say might hurt a little at interstate speeds. with all the hills where i live though i really need them more than most do.

I've been running about 35-6 psi in my MTR's and they're wearing pretty darn well. I bumped it up from 30 because it felt a little squirrely. 40 makes the tailgate rattle more, so I'll deal with it if they wear out on the outside edges first

Also, don't run up to the 80 psi max with a rubber valve stem if you DO decide to go to 80. keep it below 60 (they say the max is 65...) Also, max psi on the tire is NOT recommended psi, regardless of the tire or the car.
