I like the looks , but if it was mine I would want 2 on each side of the hood. But , then again I'm still trying to think through a Shaker Hood design, it could also include louvers. I have just always been a fan of the Shaker Hood.. No other reason then i just love the look!!   :D

Ya gotta love shaker hoods !!! BUT just bought a set of GTP hood louvers, they are the 94/96 5 vent like Marty had on Troys, so will be here in a few days, there will be one on each side! Actually bought two sets, so here we go again, now have three different styles to choose from! But the GTPs are now winning if they are not too hard to bolt on!

Then I'm ready and waiting to see the louvers on the hood the single louver just looked incomplete but a pair would supply an equilzation platform. can't wait for pictures and if I ever can come up with a Shaker Hood Design I will happily share. :D 8)

Not sure if I will have them by then or not, they are shipping them out Monday I guess. So hopefully have by the end of the week! I had the others ones all mocked up with tape covering the hood ready to cut big holes, then after looking at the ones marty laid on Troys hood, went searching again. I think due to the underhood bracing they will be more centered between the middle of the hood and where he had then laying. Just have to wait till they get here and lay them out!

Where they where placed in those pics was not my idea,I would have them more centered also.As far as the underhood bracing,no need to cut it out, leave the bracing(or as much as you can) the vents will still work either way.

I would use vents from RunCool---http://www.raceace.com/products.html--- so I wouldn't need to cut any underhood bracing, and I think the rivited look is killer.I would mount them in the general same location in the pics below for the best performace of getting the heat out at 2mph.

Look HERE if you want hood louvers. These cost more, but they will last a lifetime and will probably look better.

Instead of the hood Louvers. My taste being old school as my friend Tom knows well I may have to start investgating my Shaker Hood design, as to applying vent ports. Following my dear departed Pappy, he lived and died a Buick Man, so for venting go with a set of side fender holes with the trimming already availabe to exhaust engine heat and apply LED lights if anyone wishes the Bling concept.

As for me I gained an appreciation for my KJ as to the Late 30's thru early '50's as in fenders hood and design. I think still with some master metl work some rear removable fender skirts and suicide front doors an a spare tire just behind the front fenders in that old old design is possible and still be able to when decided turn from beautifully adorned KJ Butterfly to a off Road fire breathing Dragon. Those of my age will see my ideas whether they agree with my ideas is beside the point. Just another path not yet run by our bretheren who know if you can imamgine it it can be done

Hood louvers are a nice upgrade to keep you cool on the trail. I wouldn't worry about any ill effects from road driving. So it sucks in air at highway speeds, that should help keep things cool at highway speeds too (which it probably shouldn't need help with).

I duno if it would work on KJs, but for a cheap/quick/easy/reversible alternative, on a cherokee, you can put spacers between the hood hinges and the actual hood, which raises the rear of the hood a bit. This lets heat escape on the trail when it really builds up and can cause issues. I can't picture the KJ hood hinge setup in my mind, but I would guess that it must be able to work for the KJ as well!!

Do it the day before a trail ride, and if you don't wanna DD like that, remove them!

I removed the seal at the rear of the hood back next to the windshield and that helps some you can feel heat coming out of there when you stop after being in heavy traffic!

Got the heater fired up Jon, going to lay it out tonight!
