I have loved that rear bumper from the first time I saw it 4 years ago and still do, some dont like the part around the tail lights but I think it really sets it off!

Riptricket - those are actually Rocky Road Outfitters Super Sliders (not Rock Lizard super skinks). But yes, they do curve up, nice and tucked in. I coated them with Herculiner to give them some extra protection against minor scrapes. If you choose to get them, I have some suggestions for you to make installation better.

JSC7002 - I just added some more pics of the Trail Ready rear bumper. I took those as soon as it was bolted on, but before the whole KJ was built up. I still had the original side steps and didn't have the license plate bracket and light on the spare yet.

BTW - I normally don't keep the second spare tire on the roof rack, I was just testing it out for a couple of weeks. It's good to have the option to mount one up there.

Dude, seriously? HOW IN THE WORLD do you get that thing through TÜV? Neither the bumpers nor the roof rack are TÜV certified. The lift isnt either, the locker is not, the lights are not.....

Daniel

Oh and by the way, awesome looking KJ!

Thanks for all the positive feedback. I appreciate it, especially after working on it every day off for several months.

Endurance - I don't have to worry about TÜV because I never drive by their HQ in Cologne. Seriously though, the inspectors here wouldn't note any problems with any of the mods. Even if they did, my KJ is not due an inspection for the remainder of my time left in Germany. I renewed my plates (no inspection required) for 2 years just before I installed the upgrades.

kolesy - TÜV are the safety freaks. They sleep wearing helmets and buckle up when they use the toilet.

Wildrussian - no lottery required. I bought everything with some of the money I saved while in Iraq. I got good deals and discounts from the suppliers and the Army shipped it all to Germany at no cost to me. One of our Army benifits is that we are entitled to have a certain amount of property shipped to wherever we are in the world. I saved some more money by installing much of it myself at the base's self-help garage (it's like a full blown garage with lifts and tools that you rent for $6 per hour - another nice Army benifit).

WOW! Congrats on the new toy. I would advise not driving it on base too much because the Army may want to use it as a prototype and/or field test it.

Here are some pics of the Skid Row skid plates. There are four in all from front to rear:

Front skid - protects the front differential and oil pan.
Engine skid - protects the rear half of the engine and transmission.
Transfer case skid - protects the transfer case.
Gas tank skid - protects the tank.

The front 3 skids combine creating a relatively smooth armor surface from the engine to the transfer case. The skids overlap eachother creating a little "step" where they come together, but the front one overlaps the one to the rear so that it doesn't snag on anything while in moving forward. The sides also curve upwards for some side protection too (see pictures below).

Overall, I am very happy with them. They are tough, finished with a great poweder coat, and install relatively easily and as explained in the instructions. They definately add a great deal of needed protection to the KJ, especially to the transmission, transfer case, and gas tank.

I also included some shots of the fip-up license plate bracket that mounts on the winch fairlead, the Poison Spyder Rock Ring on the rear diff cover, and how I ran the rear air line (bright red), Warn Quick disconnect, and other wires along the undercarriage.
