Changed gears to 4.56 a while back and ever since my ESP, TRAC, and ABS light come on if I go over about 50 mph.......resets itself everytime the ignition is turned off and the lights seem to come on at the same MPH everytime. I have just been ignoring it but I would like to get er' straitend out.....anyone have any thoughts on a way to fix this......

AS A SIDE NOTE: just before I re-geared it I tried to have the dealership do that pinion reset crap (that they claim would correct the speedo to the 265/75 tire size) but it was a big failure. After the pinion reset the speed was off like 20mph instead of 10% like it was before the pinion reset. The dealer couldnt fix it or put it back to the way it was before they touched it so they just refunded my 107$ and I left. Because they are so incompetent, I have not talked to a dealer about trying again now that the gears have been changed......I find it hard to believe that I am the first person to ever change gears in a lib with ESP....so I'm hoping someone hear will see this and have a valid opinion as to a solution....

Most likely all the control modules(PCM,TCM,BCM,ABS,and ESP) are all out of wack now with the failed speedo corection(which was never corrected back to original settings) and all the inputs are saying the vehicle is going slower/faster then the speedo is and messing everything up.

I take it you only have a 2wd KJ?

Get the speedo set back to the OEM specs and you should be fine.

tjkj-- do you know the process for which the dealer uses to change the speedo---- the tech that tried to change it the first time said the program used to recal the speedo only uses new tire size and isn,t affected by gear ratio ( as in he didn't have to enter a number for gear ratio into his equation, just new tire size).....he didn't make any sence to me but I wasnt previewed to the computer/machine he was using to recal the speedo...

It depends on the year of your KJ,my '02 has some preset tire sizes in the system,I believe for the '06 you have to input the revolutions per mile to change the speedo.I can tell you that 265/75's are not in the system, but thankfully 245/75's was in mine and switching to 4.10's I just had them set my speedo for 245/75's,my speedo is pretty close now(alot closer then it was).

Still a few months, gotta lot of custom fabbing to do,protypes to be made and test fit,the final pieces made and then fitted, not to mention finding a place to do all this at.Hoping to get the bellypan going soon(will take 4+weeks to be manufactured) and the build to start shortly after MOAB.

The tech at the dealer said something similar about using revs per mile to change it... but I'LL be d*mned if he could do it...

a while back i sent you a pm about the valvebody in the 42rle and I never got back to you t explain what I found.... the 10m headed bolts hold the VB in place and the torq's bolts hold the valve body together. Found out after I bothered you with a PM that the shifter linkage was keeping the VB from falling out....just wanted to clear that up and thank you for your help that day...

are you going to use a similar setup to jj's belly pan..........you guys need to stick to a similar setup so I can cheat off of you 2 more easily later

JJ's and mine will be drastically different suspension setups,I'm using Rubicon Express TJ long arm kit,the arm are not as long as the Nth degree ones so a total custom bellypan is needed(was never a fan of the Nth setup personally).Keeping my SFA pretty simple,no fancy super long arms, and no coil overs.

AN UPDATE on the ESP lights after regearing.......found a bad wheel speed sensor, replaced it, and lights go out...had absolutely nothing to do with regearing. My speedo is still off even after a second dealership has tried to correct it, but that is a seperate issue and I'll post when I get it straitened out. My posting the issue of ESP and REGEARING is useless exept for now everyone knows you can regear with out worry a problem with your ESP.....
