Toy Run is Sat Dec 17th 2005 UPDATED INFO

Hey Clint! Garland and I are looking to come out to Cali for a few days in December but before we set specific dates we'd like to know if there is going to be a Toy Run this year. We'd like to plan our quickie Cali vacation around a run with the club and it seems that the Toy Run would be the perfect time. Is there anything in the plans for this event this year?

It's been more of a scenic run so all Jeeps can go on it. The toys are then donated to the Phelan Chamber of Commerce for the Angel Tree Program. It's one of the many times that make you proud to be part of this group!

OK guys, Looks like we are going to do our TOY RUN on SAT Dec the 17th. I talked to Tara today and we have set everything up. The meeting location will be at the McDonalds at the 15 and the 138 exit. We will meet at 8 but plan on leaving 9am sharp.

We are doing the same trail. Yes it is an easy trail but we are doing it to raise toys. Everyone should be able to do this trail and not have any problems.

Please remember this event is to raise toys for kids that are signed up to get Christmas gift or toys because their family is not able to. These toys do not go into a warehouse and are not just handed out to the public. These are kids that would not have a toy if our jeep club and a few others did not do this.

Please bring at least one toy for this event and more if you can. Last year we kicked butt on this event and I hope we can even do better this year.

This event really does put some huge smiles on some little kids faces Christmas morning for dang sure...so on Christmas day you can think of all the good things you have done to help. That should make you feel very good. See you there.

Clint --- you mentioned this is an easy run. Can I take my wife's KJ on this run? It's a 4x2 renegade, no lift, no skids. However, it does have Dueller Revo's instead of the stock tires, if that's any help

As long as there is not rain it should not be a problem. Now keep in mind I have no9t run this trail from the last time but i would think it is OK. i will try and prerun it just to be surte everything is OK. Later...clint

That'd be nice. I'm trying to encourage wife to drive on the trails, but she doesn't feel comfortable driving my KJ yet

Could you please give some guidelines for the toys? What kind of target are we buying for (age group?), and the number of recipients? Do you buy larger, more expensive toys, or smaller toys but more variety?

Is this a all day run, bring your lunch type run?

If you keep the toys in the $10-20 range you should be fine. I believe most of the toys will go to kids under 13 or so.

This is about a half day run, ending at a spot where we can grab lunch.
I would only worry about bringing some drinks and maybe a snack. We meet up near the McDonalds before the start so you can grab a coffee or bite to eat if you like before the run starts.

Liz and I will be there.

So far, the only disadvantage I've found to not working at Toys R Us anymore is not being able to stock pile cool stuff all year. The donation places here scored last year!
