Spring run at DBNF?

Kris and I are going to run down Friday morning and play around; we'll be heading back on Friday too. I will try to post an update when we return home.

I'll be headed down Friday night and will probably be staying at the Heritage Inn (http://www.renfrovalleyheritageinn.com/) if it's not too expensive. Since this is my first time down to this area, where are we meeting up for the run?

EDIT -- got it: Saturday, 2/16 meet at 49er (Exit #49, I-75 in Kentucky) @ 9 am, trail at 9:30.

Hope you guys have a safe and fun trip! Wish anything I could of tagged along or rode but its my dad bday and the Daytona 500 is this weekend so Im heading home..

Youre going to have way more fun than I , BUT I am going on the some "old" township roads that may turn into a fun day in Southeastern Ohio for us. Doing a little scouting

A suggestion from the last time we went. When you get to the hard right turn to go over the ruts and up the rock, then to go back left in 30' - try going straight. I know it looks crazy, but I did it on our camp out run last year and it wasn't too bad if you swing left (like we do anyways) then hit the right side of the hill. That way no one will have to try out the diff collars :wink:

yeah, i was thinking about that too. i told myself last time that i wasnt going to do that s-turn again until i have a locker. just too much spinning and bouncing and nonsense. i honestly think doing that part a couple times contributed to my broken diff. when i broke it at wellsville, it seemed like a very unnecessary break at that point. in other words, i didnt really think i was spinning THAT bad, and i wasnt bouncing at all. i think it came from some previous stress cracks perhaps. anyway, good call moose!

wish I could make it. Slammed this weekend. You guys be careful. Supposed to get to mid 50's and RAIN sometimes heavy starting on saturday AND rain and storms on sunday.

Who's got the tow straps and winch?

Looks right to me. Hmm...rain will be interesting. I have a tow strap and tow hooks in the front of my Wrangler but I don't have any hooks on the back. I'll see if I can pick one up at a local 4WD shop tonight. What's the stance on the rear tow hook for this run?

Well, there have been jeeps there before with NO tow hooks (not recommended). i think out of the 4 times ive been there we only towed someone with a rear point once. that was when eddo was too tippy and we tugged him back with a winch. if you can pick one up, i'm sure thats the best thing to do, but, i dunno... probably not TOTALLY necessary.

by the way, you get to see your old Rusty's lift again this weekend. im sure it will be a very nice reunion. dont get too emotional! :lol:

All the reports I have seen don't show rain till Sunday a.m.. Mostly sunny and mid 40's for Saturday.

I have front hooks, 2" rear receiver hook and a strap that will be with us. Not sure if airing down will be in order but I picked up a inflator just in case.

Mitch, is anyone meeting at McDonalds in the moring per your suggestion? Wll you folks be going down 75 in Ohio? I am right off 71 just past Kings Island.

Maybe some exchange of cell numbers might be in order??

airing down helps, but it's up to you as to how far you go. I take my MT's to 10-14. I'd at least go to 20-25, and then go down more if you have grip problems...

I just got back from Livingston....lots of mud and gravel. Also signs saying that Cromer Hill is closed to ORV's use. I assume to be legal you have to stay on the gravel. Granted it's muddy, but not challenging. Where the gravel ends they have blocked the rest of the trail by cutting down trees (way to preserve nature!). You might want to think about Harlen. Pics to follow.
