Spring run at DBNF?

Hmmm, sounds like the rumors of a lot of the access being gone are true...

There were a few of the trails still accessible off the gravel road, but it was fairly muddy we weren't sure which trails went where.

We'll be there-7am. There must be way more to the area we are going to that I think...since I have never been. With the trail being blocked...surely this is not the only way to go??? What are our options??

we stayed on the gravel for the most part, it was still pretty muddy.

We'll just have to go up there and see what's open and not... Then check out another trail if we can't get anywhere here.

I can't remember what roads were considered open to the public, but I do remember that each of our runs here followed a Forest Access Road.

jeepster was just out there part of the way last week or so I would HOPE that ones still open for you, plus it is or was legal route, may have to go over to our Sunday run area, sure would like to EXPLORE that area some more

Oh and Jon you forgot, didnt someone have to be pulled out last trip, now who was that???? :twisted:

I aired my ATs down to 23/ 25 last time and no problems if that helps any one at all

Bad news guys. The KJ just decided to throw a monkey wrench in my Friday night plans. She broke down (possibly the water pump) and I was stuck at the side of the road for about an hour and a half waiting for a tow truck. Then another 45 minutes getting towed to a dealership and getting a quote. Didn't leave much time for me to put together the Wrangler so I won't be able to make the run this weekend. That really sucks because I was looking forward to this for a while. Well, have a great time out there!

Cromer Ridge is where we go. Here's a page about the closure on the DBNF website.

This is the same stuff that we talked about late last year before that last run in Oct.
The debate is whether or not this applies to our route. The route we take is Falls City Rd. and it is a public forest road. Not an OHV/ATV trail. Now it was said that the county gave up ownership of that road, so it became nothing but private land. We dont have any confirmation of that though. The MVUM shows a legal road that goes from exit 49 to RT80. We all know nothing is marked very well in there, so everything is up for debate. From what tjkoen01 said, that gravel road is blocked and stops well before RT80.... so... is that the legal road thats on the map or not? The fact that its not clear cut at least gives us some argument if a ranger stops by and we are indeed not on a legal road. I'm not saying that its illegal and that we should do it anyway (dont delete my post!) i'm saying that we dont know for sure one way or the other. anyway, enough rambling. i'm going to bed, see you tomorrow!

i second that. we really need to run harlan. i can get us a lead so we know where to go. my local club even has our own trail we have been working on there so many of them know it really well. here are some pics of last weekends run there. there is something there for everyone and u can camp there and even run at night if u wish.Harlan Pics here

the normal trail was a go. as far as we could tell from the maps its still an open public road. the wash-out wasnt too bad then normal, and everything went smoothly. after that trail we went back to the sunday trail from the last run (horse lick creek rd.) there was another road on that that branched off that we didnt take last time (white oak creek rd.) thats where the old building is. were gonna go back to those trails tomorrow morning.

we went down horse lick until we got to the first river crossing. its really high, but still doable. mitch went through and back just to try it out so we could see what we could do or not do tomorrow. its a go, so we're going!
