I cannot answer your first question, but by U-Bolt latch do you mean this?

The dealers almost NEVER carry nutzers and in many cases have trouble getting them from Mopar.

Buy them from NewJeepParts.com

The part # for the Nutzert is 6506644AA and for the Bolts is 6506027AA.

Price should be $0.96 and $1.20 each, respectively.

Any appropriately sized and threaded bolts will due. Don't go crazy on the strength of the bolts. Nutzerts are made out a brass and are very soft. They will fail WAY before even normal grade bolts will.

I second that. Got some installed with the KJ armor and when you got one of those nutserts in your hand you'll not question which part will fail first...

The outer casing that holds the nutzerk in is brass, the treaded part is grade 8 strength or metric 10.9.The OEM nutzerks are metric and require metric bolts that should be at least 9.8(10.9 would be better) in hardness for skid plate duty.8.8 metric bolts are about the same as grade 5 SAE bolts for strength.

Very interesting. The bolts I got with my rivets (or nutzerts - whatever) had 10.9 written on them. Got these from the dealership. Paid plenty to get them. Hope they last. Will kill if they don't.

Metric 10.9 bolts are as strong if not a little stronger then SAE grade 8 bolts, there plenty strong and why they cost more then lesser grade bolts of the same size.

This is true. The dealer did not have them but they order parts every day for repairs and such and I had them the next morning via the parts truck. They can get MOST things in 1 day that I ask for. (I think there is a warehouse downstate in Albany) They were priced as noted by cobalt60. At least that is my experience also.

I got this from the email I sent the Part Dept at my local dealer:
The parts would need to be ordered and prepaid.

Nutzert (6506644AA) 1.28 each

Bolts (6506027AA) 1.61 each.

Allow 2 to 3 business days for arrival of shippment.

What is the cost of shipping from that newjeepparts.com?

I finally got the nutzerts, paid $1.26 or whatever they were, looked at the bill and they charged me $10 for shipping! so I ended up paying $32 for the darn things

do you have to have the install kit? or is there a way I can install them w/o the kit?
