Well, I do seem to remember you mentioning that in prior post, so the confusion is mine - unfortunately, I cannot be of further\any assistance because the KJ is various places around se Texas, while #2son is doing his EMT studies - btw: in servicing the systems, some modules require the engine to be running, some modules require the engine to don't be running - this is to prevent altering critical parameters at 70mph - which would be a good way to meet my son................

Heck, if I'm close to anyone that also has one of these, it might be worth the drive and some beer money to at least compare software screens on this. According to the guys at the dealership, there are only 2 or 3 CRDs in the Savannah area, and I think I'm #3. They also didn't think too highly of the CRD, but I suspect that is b/c they said it takes 5-7 days to get any parts for them, and nothing is kept in stock.

Makes sense if they know there are only 2 in the city, but thats no reason to bust on a 4 cylinder freight train that can pull 11k lbs of combined vehicle and trailer. Its a tough little beast.

Still, what does concerns me is that firmware error - I've never seen that, and believe me, being dyslexic, I can unhinge a computer in ways you cannot even imagine - as the friendly gynecologist always sez: that bears looking into

F31? What recall is that? I know it's had the F37 and F23, but thats it, according to the VIP report.

I think that recall was F21 which allowed the OBD
to be consisent with all the code readers. Fore that
didn't work on all code readers.
Correct me if I am wrong.

It was F31 that was supposed to restore communication with scanners. Some people said they felt the engine derate begin with this flash, even before F37.

Well, I finally got hold of the guys at AE, and they were extremely helpful. Sent me a beta copy of the new software, and told me about the actuation stuff:

"Of course there isn't anything in the actuation window, you can clearly see from our list (which is 40 pages long and incomprehensible to ordinary humans) that the VPW cars don't have any actuation commands outside of the Engine ECU, but the CAN cars do.

Ok, well since our cars are such an amalgamation, you couldn't bother to also tell me before that while we have KWP2000 (a non-vpw spec) that we also are VPW, and nothing will work?

Oh wait, it was all about getting the $400 out of me. Yea, I'm a grumpy gator here. I have more information now (always a good thing) but I have an expensive look-but-don't-touch device. Not helpful.

What's interesting however, is that with the new version, more sensor options have appeared for the individual tire sensors, but there still is a discrepancy between Tire 2 and the rest of them: Tire 2 does not have an "Checksum Error Counter" sensor listing, while the others do... And 4 of my tires are "marked as spare" according to the TPMS system. Very interesting. Tire 5 is the only one that I can't pull a part number from, which stands to reason, since that rim has always been the spare... And it's the only one NOT "marked as spare" in the system.

I think I'm going to be stuck letting the dealer screw with this.

Anyone want to buy a brand-new AE generic OBD-II interface? It will work for all the non-hardware enhanced upgrades, so your other cars can let you into the special stuff...
