Just wondering if this can be done in a pinch. I elected to only get 4 tires last year when i got new ones due to lack of funds. I guess I should prob just buy it now and not worry. Im wondering if something were to happen today and i blew out a tire could I safely put on my 235 in place of the 245 that I have on there now? Maybe only in the front.... or only if I dont use 4x4 part time because of the diffs locking.

Kinda figured that, ok cool. Def ok in 2wd on all wheels though right?
Just wondering if ive been lugging this spare around on the back door for a year when i couldnt even mount it.

Guess I shouldnt bother replacing it then if I can run in 2wd and 4 full.

Okay but only for very short distances(a few miles). If you have the trash-loc in the rear you can't use it on the rear axle or it will wear the LSD really fast. You can't use 4wd for the added risk of damaging yout t-case.

Only use the spare if it is the same HEIGHT as your other tires. Width doesn't matter much if the height is ok.

In any case, fit a spare which is not the same height as your other tires only in emergencies. Limp to the NEAREST tire place and get it fixed ASAP. Even the front tires without even considering the differentials working a little extra (no harm in that, that's their job - just be careful with the rear if you have track-lock or other LSD device) the braking and steering would also be affected. You would more easily roll over and braking will be affected too.

Basically yes but dont get a flat and need 4wd in any form
and as others have said dont put it on any axle with any traction device besides a selectable locker

What you could do is buy a used but in good shape spare the same size as the 4 on the ground
common practice with the groups I ride with as the trail rules state "matching full size spare"

Remember if you get a flat off road you are SOL ,no 4wd
I have only gotten flats that I could not "just air up and ride on" on the trail
when you get a flat on the trail most time the tire is shot

I wouldnt run any kind of 4wd with a different size spare in use.

Like everyone said, only do it for short distances. Dont drive 10hours on vacation with a different size tire or anything crazy like that. :?
