Hey Guys

hey guys whats up my name Logan and i live in Algonquin, IL right of of rt 62 and was hoping some you Elgin guys knew some good trails around here. I go to Dundee-Crown high school and i have some friends in elgin so i know the area fairly well. I might be getting some piaa driving lights in the future and may need some help on the install. hope to talk to you guys soon.

I closest i know is the cliffs about an hour drive for me or the badlands which is a 4 hr.

hey man yea basically i was looking for about a ten 20 min drive...i know theres a lot of forests in elgin but there all wild life parks and stuff...i defiantly don't wanna get in trouble

I find that cruising the gravel farm roads west of town and out around Hampshire can sometimes be fun... but still not as good as off-roading.

yea i have found some of those gravel rodads out near big timber but other wise ntohin really then huh.

no defintly nothing legal in the area that isnt a 2-3 hour drive. I do think we need to get another outing going sometime in maybe end of febuary begining of march tho. I havent been out wheelin since december. by the way welcome logan.

Hey... did you get the body work done that you were talking about?

Anyway... I'd be up for some sort of outing. The weekends of March 1-2, and March 21-23 are out. I already have winter camping/backpacking trips on those weekends. Maybe I can find some trails while I'm gone...

Anyone familiar with any 4x4 trails around Starved Rock or Mississippi Palisades State Parks?

no i defintly have not had the body work done yet. I'm still waiting on my tax return and i debating when i should get it done. and wow i haven't been to either of those parks since i was in boy scouts back when i was like 14 or 15. I will work on getting something going for down at the badlands in march.

i'm right on the St. Charles/Elgin border. Seems a lot of people popping up in our area. May have to have you all over for BBQ if the weather EVER turns.

Better yet, i heard some rumblings of a trip maybe this March??? Long as i'm free count me in! Be a good opportunity to meet all of you.

Not to steel your thread but how come we never do the Cliffs? Love Badlands but cliffs are closer and i've never been. Anybody?

If you want body damage you go to the cliffs. that places is one big mud hole ( especially this time of year) and very tight. Badlands you get a mix of whatever you want. thats why i travel to there.

Yea guys im in for some trips i think im going to buy a daystar comfort ride 1.5 front and 2 inch rear comfort ride lift what do you guys think?

I'd vote for the Badlands and any time but the last week of March is great for me.

By the way, welcome Logan. I don't have any experience with the daystar but if you're looking for a good starter lift that's relatively inexpensive the Rusty's 2.5" lift does pretty well. It sags over time so in the end you may only get 1.5" out of it and you'll need a spring compressor to put the front together (or know someone who has a spring compressor). The other option for a lift that I recommend is the Frankenlift. Tons of people run the Frankenlift and a number of people also run the Rusty's. Basically the lift depends on your budget.

However, you may want to look into skid plates and rock rails first if your KJ doesn't have full protection. Those were my first buy and they can save you a lot of money in repairs.

yea i got skids and the stock rock rails on my renny but im ordering some cragar soft 8's in the next few days and getting the front windows matched to the back...then time to save up for the lift...when i do get my lift any of you guys up for helping me put it in.?? :lol:

YELLOCOYOTE, im getting the JBA4" in a few months. if you havent gotten a lift by then ill give you the 2.5 kit i got on mine now for free. i wont need it any longer so,, if you want it. we should do a bbq in a forest preserve later this spring. there seems to be enuff of us.

no prob. its all yours. im trying to sell a few things for lift cash, so as soon as i get it removed its yours. ill be getting new shocks from the kit so you can have the ranchos too. youll be ready to roll.

That is exactly what I run on my KJ and I love it. Keep in mind the idea of replacing the shox...I used Rancho RSX's.
