it's interesting to see how it cracked and also how if sort of followed some lines in the case itself. Hard to tell in the pictures but in real life you could. Wish I would of taken more pictures now.

Glad you posted those! Very interesting indeed. They need to be sent to the engineer that designed it and hopefully got fired. Hes probably the same one that rigged up the Kj's lower balljoints.

I see how the metal diff collar works now.

How much did that new diff housing set you back?

well, i got the new housing assembly from a salvage yard for $250. it was from an '03 with about 60k on it. was clean and in good condition. there was plenty more cost though for the gear oil, seals, RTV sealant etc. etc. there are alot of misc. things that you have to get, but $250 for that housing was a steal in my book. :D

Yes when we crawled under it was just all ..open  could see all kinds of cool gears etc     Not glad it happened to Jon , but glad I was able to see it up close and see what really happens, which reminds me after looking at those pictures, I need to clean my garage better before I take more pictures in there!

Wow! Split both sides, far worse looking than mine was. I just lost a 2''x4" chunk and had the crack on the left side. I kept the chunk for a souvenir!
