hi, i just got an 06 sport, and the stock tires are junk! i have a local dealer who will take them on trade. he sells cooper, bridgestone, firestone, and dayton. what tire would you recomend for snow and mud in northern wisconsin? i run logging roads in the fall, and we get some snow it the winter, but not huge amounts. i guess i'm looking for a middle of the road type tire tread, not too loud, but more aggressive than the firestone destination LE's that i had on my old blazer. those tires had me sliding all over this winter. thanks in advance for the advice!

I have heard great things about the Destination ATs, another thought is the Bridgestone Dueler AT revos. That is what my dad runs on his Silverado and they do very well. Congrats on the Jeep and welcome to the site! Always good to have more Wisco representatives. Where up north are you?

I ran them for about 35000 (Destination ATs) and they did good, not so good in red clay type soil/mud but other than that good in snow/ ice etc could not wear them out so sold them and the stock wheels !!

In general we've had positive reports on

Destination AT's
Bridgestone Revo's
Cooper ATR's
and Dayton Timberline MT's (no one's mentioned the AT's)

so your local Dealer has them all covered - might look for your best price.
and Welcome to LOST.

I second the Vatiivas! Or even the WR's. If you have never heard of Nokian tires, look HERE. I never heard of them prior to buying them, now I won't buy anything else! I owned the Destination A/T's and was scared to death with these on my Jeep in inclement weather. A friend mine who had the Dueler Revo's said they weren't worth a doo doo in the snow. Nokian owns just about every patent on the basic design of tires and their siping can't be beat!

Dueler AT Revos. Awesome tire. Awesome in snow, awesome in the wet, awesome on dry pavement, and pretty darn good off road until you get into mud. IMO the best all terrain on the market.

I had a set on my 98 Ranger. They were great tires but the truck was totalled before I got a chance to really enjoy them for more than 2 years, thus I can't tell you about durability in the long run.

The tires were quiet and offered great grip for my truck
They had a tendency to hydroplane a bit at speed though (70MPH or above) so do be mindful of that
Durability was great for the tire I thought during my short experience.

Sir Sam loves them - I don't think anyone else does - the rating on Tirerack aren't that great
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=BFGoodrich&tireModel=Radial+Long+Trail+T%2FA

FYI - I've seen some good prices on the tires you mentioned at TireRack and Roadway
http://www.roadwaywholesaletire.com/

If you printout price & shipping quotes - a lot of local tire shops will price match or at least come pretty close

I am glad you found something you liked, at a price you liked, too.

If I may, I wanted to add that if you want mail-order, Jegs offers Kumho KL78's, which have been recommended in the past as an A/T with decent mud ability (for an A/T), for less than $100/ea including delivery. I just thought that this would give another option to someone following this thread later...
