Find the oil dipstick and then look about 8"-10" behind that and you will see another yellow dipstick handle sticking up very close to the firewall(the the right of the coolant tank),that's for the tranny. You'll need a funnel.

It won't take long to run in at all, make sure you have a funnel that will hold about a quart or more, pour it in and it will drain out in a very short time.
Thats the easiest part of changing out the tranny fluid!

Long Skinny Funnel works best... That way the "nozzle" of the funnel can go into the stick tube further and prevent leaks.

The tranny fluid will pour a lot faster than the motor oil so it shouldn't take too long.

Good luck!

Yeah until you have to do it on a tranny that holds 30qts of 30 wieght oil and has the same diameter tube as the one found on the KJ  .

Sure but you were most likely in some big air conditioned garage with piped in music, beer in the fridge, dancing girls so what did it matter how long it took!

That would be nice but most of the time it was in the great outdoors with a temp of 140 degrees+ with full battle gear on(and my M16 strapped to my back).

First, there is NO stupid question. Second, at least you have a trany dipstick. My 2007 KJ didn’t come with a dip stick. Instead, I had to order a measuring stick.

so you guys with o7's cant even do your own tranny services. how does the stealership or any other shop do it? There has to be some way to measure or change the fluid for you guys...that stinks.

Have you tried pulling off that stupid little cap and test fitting the dipstick from your older KJ in your dipstick tube on your '07? Or maybe getting an '03-05 dipstick tube/dipstick?

I bought the CDX universal measuring stick. I have never tried the KJ dip stick from an older model.

Actually, as mentioned above, I have the “Universal” measuring stick that the Dealer would use. I have already replaced my factory fluid with AMSOIL ATF when I had my Transgo “correction” shift kit installed, I lost most of my factory trany fluid through the valve body.

The dip stick is a "Proprietary" tool and is used in conjunction with an infered temp guage to messure the fluid level at the exact tranny temp.

That is the song and dance the stealership gives out. Miller tools makes the dipstick and once my tranny is out of warrantee i plan to get one and a temp guage. I already have (somewhere) the cart that shows the levels at different temps. As long as they want to be responsible for it i will let them.

P.S. That is one trick chrysler learned from Mercedes. seams the mercedes have that feature too.
